Scotland Puncture Repair Products (UK) - Any Good?

Has anyone used any of these products before? If so are they any good?

- Tyresafe
- OKO Z7
- Slime
- Ultra Seal
- Mini's own mobility stuff!

Basically they are all the same and work in the same manner ie a liquid plug for punctures.

I have run-flat goodyear tyres and have a 3-day slow puncture. Upon visiting my local run-flat authorised National Tyres Depot the manager advised me that the only run-flat tyre that can be repaired is the Dunlop one! Goodyear and Pirelli can't! To repair the tyre is about £12 to replace it is £140! and as it has plenty tread left on it i know which i'd rather!

However Goodyear have even issued a memo categorically stating that their run-flat tyres must NEVER be repaired!

Smells like a cartel to me! the sales team didn't tell me they couldn't be repaired when they sold me the car!

Any help on this one is much appreciated.

Thanks

I've used a tyre seal product, not one you have listed and it was a long, long time ago on a motorcycle tyre, the results were terrible and I would never use anything like it again. I also think these products are a temporary measure till you can get the tyre repaired properly.

Having just had a puncture on my car and knowing the hassle you are having trying to find a firm to repair it,
may I suggest you try some of the smaller independent tyre shops, that's what I ended up doing after ringing all the major players and getting knocked back, the small guys were great, You just have to confirm with them that they have the equipment to deal with run flats.

All the best

I would worry that the liquid repair gunk would settle and unbalance the tire. The only repair should be a plug AND patch, and include a re-balance.

(Knock on wood) I've not had a flat in the last 150,000 miles, so I'm hoping the run-flats do well.

Hi Wul,

I thought these things were a get you home puncture repair rather than a permanent fix.

Ken, i initially thought that too - i knew they did it for motorbikes and it was a permanent product rather than "get you home" but it looks like the technology has moved on since then
http://www.tyresafe.com/
Seafield Coachworks do a car for £19.95 so i'm booked in to get it done on thurs (think Bonnie Scotland has it in his too) and at least it will protect my other three tyres and slow my puncture till the end of the monthe so that i can buy a new tyre then!

I like the principle of run-flat tyres but surely they should be made so that they can be repaired! i mean dunlop managed it!

I know which tyres i'll be ordering next!
