Thumbs down About A Dealer - A Warning for Long Distance Owners

Last time I was at the BMW dealer, picking up my car from an airbag system repair, they had made an appointment already for another repair. I requested a date change. I marked the change on my receipt as my advisor instructed. After a pleasant chat while i waited for the car, i asked her to mark it on her paperwork as well, as she had not made a note of it.

Well today was the day and I drove 1 1/2 hours (also the time for the repair) in a snowstorm to find that everyone was to lunch and the appointment was not in the computer. The parts and procedure were, but I was due 5 days ago on the original date! I was reassured that even if I were in the computer, their shortage by one man would have precluded my car's repair. But hey, that's a bit beside the point, isn't it? They might have called and canceled the appointment if I were on the schedule.

So I drove back home. Nothing better to do in a snow storm on my day off. Maybe next time I'll insist they enter the change in the computer. Doesn't seem to come naturally.

I'll be that guy who always calls ahead.

My service dept knows my name too...lol

I'm glad to say I've never had an appointment disaster like this, but I hope I never do. I never call ahead, but I guess I'll start from now on. BTW, a trip for me to the Mini dealership is a trip all itself... I wouldn't have been that disappointed, I would've made use of myself traveling so far and bought something!

Yep, always call ahead. Common sense advice.

Phew, GMINI, an hour & a half! And a day off work! That just about takes the biscuit.
Thanks for your input. Have taken it on board.
