Offline | Inflation Hits an S I have to pass along what I think is an amusing story. On Sunday, I was driving by a used car lot (this place only sells used cars, and they advertise heavily in this area), and in the front row I spot a red and white MINI. Slam on the brakes, wheel around, go back to look closer. Sure enough, it's a red and white S. This dealer is asking $3K MORE for a used S than I paid for a brand new one. I was so astounded that I didn't even see how many miles it had on it. It was located right between an M roadster ('99) and three Z3's. I guess our investment is appreciating! |

| MINI2 Senior | We have similar folks in the Central Ohio USA area. They seem to thrive, at least they haven't gone out of business, with cool cars on the lot as draws for passersby. I think they just price the cars so they won't sell for a while to keep them as traffic draws, and pity the sucker who might want to by them at the ask. Can't blame a guy for trying. Heck - I'll sell my S for $3,000 more than I paid for it to anyone who wants it. And then, I'll go back to the dealer (who has them on the lot still) and pick up another! ![]() Dave Gotten anything useful from MINI2? How about giving a little something back? Offline | Well, the MINI has the highest resale value in the industry. It sure beats Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Audi, Acura, et al. The MINI depreciates at an amazingly low rate of about 9% to 10% per year. This means that after 4 years of ownership you can still expect to get back 60% off the original MSRP sticker price. The MINI is doing fantastic in used car auctions as well. '02 MINI Cooper CVT On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03) |
