Offline | Jazzmasta.jim, These are just a handful of cars. The thread asks for people with problems if we count there maybe on 15 of us that repsonded. MINI2 has some 8000 members. BMW has produced well over 100,000 minis. If you asked the same question in the forum for Ford you would or might have more problems being reported. Just to give an idea I had a Ford Explorer for 3 years prior to the mini. During those three years I had 7 major recalls. But I still Loved the car. Get the Mini. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | I had one problem, but it took the dealer three trips (two on tow trucks and one pushing from in front of the dealership just after they said "there was no problem found"). I voted 1-2 since it was more a service problem than a car problem. |

Offline | I had a few minor problems, (rattles and a bit of CVT jumpiness) but none were significant enough to warrant a trip to the dealer so I just waited until the 10,000 mile service appointment to have them looked at. |

Offline | It seems a larger number of earlier models ('02) reported immediate (build and component related) probs, and fewer of the more recent builds. My 10/02 build has been in once for a weeping coolant tank which was replaced with something more robust. I received the recall notice on the rear suspension strut bolt which I'll take care of sometime next week. Your '90 Probe sounds like the '90 Civic Si I traded in. I'm very happy with my MCS, no regrets because the MINI is such a pleasure to drive (fast). I understand the dilemma: Buy a car that's not as exciting, but known to be reliable (like a Civic or Miata), or something exciting with an unknown long-term reliability record. As an old fart (51 soon), allow me to give you some avuncular counsel. I have found that every decision you can make in life is a bad one -- it's just that some work out, and some don't. Be helpful and happy, and have fun. It all evens out in the end. '03 MCS, black / black, 16" Wheels |

Offline | Awright dude! Let's get the band back together! I play reggae keyboard and thinking of reviving that gig. Let's see...how do we get our keys in the MINI? Fold the rears down, move the passenger seat all the way up, or just remove it? Actually, if you can sing, forget about the keys. Singers get the girls 'cuz all they have to pack up after a gig is a microphone. Keyboard players get stuck with a car full of gear that they can't park at her place unless she's got a secured parking area. And she isn't coming to your place 'cuz she knows she'll have to help you unpack the car! So a singer with an MCS will have the most fun. So, brother, what color are you getting? Offline | That's pretty much what's going on. The old band with the old repertoire: Zep, ELP, Yes, Deep Purple . . . I'm having a blast just brushing up on the old stuff! That's what I was wondering: will an 88-note keyboard even fit?? I figure maybe if I fold the rear seats down and move the front passenger seat all the way forward . . . Either that, or I'll have to drive my wife's Sport Trac to gigs. Nah, after almost 27 years of marriage, I'm not even thinking about that! LOL! I'd like to get Dark Silver, but having been quoted a wait time of 7-10 months when ordering, I'll probably accept a color I don't dislike, if I can find something on the dealer's lot.
