Offline | I know this should probably be in the faults and fixes forum but thought it would get better coverage in here! My mini is currently on it's 6 trip to the dealers for warranty repairs - it's only a July 02 build! Starting to to get knarked at going there once a month - love the car but some of the faults are now on their 3rd repair. Also interested to hear anyone who lobbied their dealer to get freebies etc for being repaired so many times. Cheers. Wul Dingdangdoo! |

Offline | 1st visit: Rattleing boot hatch. Fix:replace locking mechanism. 2nd Visit: Stick shift became disengaged from the tranny whilst driving. Fix: new retaining bracket installed. 3rd visit: Creaking drivers seat. buzzing seat belt anchors. Fix: lube and grease. 4th visit: Blown power steering pump. Driver side window actuator is being replaced due to loose and rattling window. Fix: not done yet will take 10 day to get power steering pump from Germany. No worries, everything is undercontrol. Offline | Well.... collected my MINI from visit number 6 and it has number 7 booked already!!! - they've had to order up Speedo Cluster number 2 to sort the temo gauge fault for the third time and a new seat back for the drivers side after they broke the bottom fastners taking it off for the fourth time! This is starting to wear me down! Dingdangdoo! |

Offline | One time to get the rear boot latch mechanism replaced (Got stuck in the open position and hatch wouldn't shut close) 5 weeks just after having taking delivery. Two times to get the required software updates, 31 and 32.1. Otherwise our Cooper CVT has been rock solid! ![]() '02 MINI Cooper CVT On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03) |

Offline | I must say that this is all rather discouraging for me to read as a prospective MCS buyer! The nearest dealer is a 110-mile round trip away, which would be quite a hardship, timewise, if I were to experience similar problems. I had a 1994 Ford Ranger 4x4 for six years/98,000 repair-free miles, and have owned my 1990 Ford Probe GT for 13 years/115,000 miles (having a few problems lately, but all easy repairs, such as exhaust system, heater/AC blower, etc.). Are a majority -- or significant minority -- of MINI owners exoeriencing these quality-related problems, or is it just a relatively small minority? Jim MINI dealers too far away with too few cars. Bought a 2003 SVT Lightning instead. Also driving a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4. |

Offline | All but one incident is a Minor repair. The major one was my power steering pump and my dealer said that it was a fluke that it went and that my car is the first to come in with this problem. Don't worry, order your MCS and enjoy it. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | JazzMastaJim - don't be discouraged from buying and enjoying your MCS the newer cars are all learning from the faults in the earlier cars (hopefully!) and i still absolutely love driving my coop - i'm just getting fed up notifying them in advance of the fault and still having to go back twice - once for them to investigate and once for them to fit the new part - multiply that by the number of faults/visits and you'll see my point. people say to me "sell it then" but i would buy another MINI no question. Go-on you know you wanna! Dingdangdoo! |

| MINI2 Master | My MINI has had the following warranty issues: Buzzing door card (went away on it's own) Buzzing dash top centre vent ('fixed' but still persists occasionally) BOOST cassette head unit replaced (kept on switching to news for as long as it felt like, when I didn't have it set to do this) Gearbox replaced ('pulsing' through the gear lever in fourth gear) Power steering pump replaced (electrical fault in it found when fitting dealer-fit MFSW kit) Air lock in heater matrix area (water noises behind centre console, 'fixed' a couple of days ago, but problem persists) Oh well! |
