Silver Black Going to see 'Italian Job' tonight!

My wife managed to nab tickets to a sneak preview of the Italian Job tonight! So I'm off to the theatre shortly, I still want to do an opening night mini show at a theatre with a bunch of Mini's, but I can't pass up this opportunity!

7pm at Silver City in Ancaster, but you have to have an invite...I don't know if there are any at the door.

Sorry man, I had to leave right after I left my last post. My wife lucked out and got an invite at the Limeridge Mall Coles store this afternoon. To be honest, I think the rest of the people there were friends and family of Coles employees, I think we were the only two who didn't know everyone else! Typically, these free previews come out in View magazine, but this one wasn't advertised at all, like I say, my wife just lucked out today. The movie was 'unfinished', or so they said at the beginning, the music, some of the editing, etc. wasn't as it will be in the final form. None the less, it was pretty cool. I won't give anything away, but it was a decent movie all around, not just that there were Mini's in it. It made me want to drive fast on the way home (not like the Mini doesn't do that on it's own)

I wonder if any of the people do'n this movie have contacted anyone associated with Minis about doing a promotion at a theatre in each city it opens???

Pepper White / Red Interior / Red Stripes / CVT

Talk is cheap 'cause supply exceeds demand.

Yup, I didn't see anyone else anyway. Like I mentioned over on the SOMC website, I think there will be a lot more Mini's show up on the streets after the movie hits full release.

To answer the other question, I know someone in California has organized a drive-in movie preview of the movie that is Mini-only, plus the stars are supposed to arrive at the premier in Mini's.

I'm full of envy about the sneak preview ... when I registered at The Italian Job movie website, they sent me an email that they were planning special events in various cities during the opening. Alas, I haven't heard anything further. I'm sure that I'll see a few MINI's in the parking lot on 5/30 at my local cinema, but I'm hoping that various groups plan an event if the movie promoters don't follow through. So what should we do ...

PS to Sniece ... I appointed a colleague to be a designated driver on the way home from viewing The Bourne Identity.

Silver/Black Cooper, that I drove 548 miles home on April 12 '02 (14th buyer from Morristown NJ MINI). My other transportation is a silver Paso Fino - Happy Trails!

Yeah, the urge to drive down stairs and through sewer drains has to be avoided! I think that may void the warranty

From the rumours I hear, Mini is planning on doing something to promote the movie (I'm seeing this as the longest edition of 'The Hire' series of films by BMW)...I'm just waiting for the call...and I'll be there!

I don't know if you are a member of MINIOKI/MININEO, but we are planning a meeting/meal preceeding a showing of the movie here in Ohio. It may be far away for you depending on what part of Ohio you live in.

If you want more info let me know.

As an old timer Mini driver I ahve to tell you about my experience with the First Italian Job flick. We only knew it was about Minis and had Michael Caine. We drove three Minis (850's) to the drive in, watched the show in amazement and upon leaving had one very drunk guy in a van (this was the '70's!) open the back of his vehicle and try to "guide" the three Minins into his van--just like in the movie! I will NEVER forget THAT!

Paramount is doing plenty of cross-promotion, their licensing division (Viacom Consumer Products) is doing MINI product and stuff based on the old and new movie. A Special Edition release of the original will come out on DVD just prior to the opening of the new movie as well.
