How to repair curb-scratch around wheel rim?

Anyone knows how to repair the sratches and chip-offs around the edge of the rim from curbing?

Only way I know of is to unmount the wheel, unmount the tire, and take it to a good body shop. They will sand the blemish smooth, prime, then repaint the rim.

I'm faced with the same situation, but my mishap wasn't a curb, but a pothole. The skinny profile of the tires makes the rims especially susceptible to this type of damage.

Good luck,
Geoff

I agree, those low-profile tires are almost half of the size of the regular ones. It hurts to hear the curbing sound when you sit only a few inches from the wheels.

I will check out the dealership for a quote, don't really trust those sharks (autoshops) out there.

Great Advises, guys!

Murf.

Oh my goodness Murf, reconsider your last statement. Unless your dealer has an excellent body shop (most don't) get references from BMW, Porsche, or MB owners as to where they take their cars for body work.

There have to be several body shops of excellent repute in Toronto.

Good luck.
