Offline | My Missus' Mini arrives in 2 days (thursday) My missus ordered a Cooper Silver/Black CVT w/sunroof & aircon. She has a couple of questions which I'm hoping you may be able to answer, so here goes: 1. She wanted the 16in alloys and everything else that came with the Chilli pack except the sport seats. She was told that there was no option for ordinary seats in half leather in this package as the factory builds the cars according to the order numbers. Can anybody confirm this? Anyway, she's ordered everything in the Chilli pack except the half leather sports and sports suspension plus. 2. She wants the silver UJ roof decal. The dealer said that this is possible, even with a sunroof and that they employ somebody to fit it for them at the dealership. I thought this sort of thing was carried out at the factory, so is it worth ordering say at Minispares/Cooperflags/Idlegear and getting somebody to fit it privately. Your thoughts on the above would be much appreciated. I'm sure I'll be along soon with more questions. Thanks in advance. MyMissus'Mini Last edited by MyMissus'Mini : Jun 4th, 2003 at 12:53 AM. |

Offline | Hi, welcome to the fold. I can't answer the first question but as for the UJ top decal, you'll find that you can probably save by buying the decal from someone else and either putting it on yourself or finding a local installer. -- '03 S B/W |

Offline | 1) True 2) Probably aftermarket, and if you have a sunroof, try to get a nice perforated decal that you can still see through. Welcome to MINI2. Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | http://www.coolnewmini.co.uk/ Click on Styling - and see "sunroof options" £225 gets you a perforated union jack roof as supplied to BMW. According to the bumf on the site. We've decided not to bother. Sounds like our wives have similar ideas on Spec. Mine did not want the seats either, and we could not decide whether to get Velvet Red or Silver for ages ( Still not confirmed ). The one thing I managed to change her mind on was not getting the CVT. No real problem with it - I just thought it was expensive and did not 'fit' the car. ( Nothing against Auto's I got an Auto Merc - they should be Auto. Not Mini's ) Anyroad - enough babbling - Hope you get sorted. Stew. Hartlepool. |

Offline | We are having the dealer fit the silver roof to ours. I though aftermarket but then I though best to let the dealer do everything as then if anything is wrong it is down to them. Fitted for £200. |

Offline | Thanks to everyone for your replies. It's a shame Mini won't accommodate different option packages. I think I'll give it another go and try and persuade my missus of the advantages of sports seats. I used to have an Audi A3 with sports seats and even I'd find that my arm would rub against the seat when changing gears. I see though that you can get centre arm-rests from minispares, so that might help the problem with the Mini. My missus won't drive manuals, I even had to order my car with the auto option for when she wanted to drive it. £225 + fitting. I know she wants a bit of individuality....I'll put it to her and see what she says. Thanks again for the welcome and look forward to posting again. |

| ITS RAINNIN' SIDEWAYS | how does ordering everything off the chili pack except the seats & suspension affect the price? off memory the complete chili pack saves some money over ordering the items individually. definately go aftermarket on the roof decal. the mini dealer may well 'get someone in' to do it but they'll still charge the same hourly rate as if it was one of their mechanics. check out some of the sponsors on here - idlegear have a good range & will probably do a one-off if its something they dont offer currently. ![]() |

Offline | £140 ![]() Maybe I'll write to Mini HQ and ask them to make an exception to their computer coded ordering system. Spod says £200 which is a bit much. I was thinking (although it is my missus' mini) of a silver UJ with the signature of her first name over it in another colour. Next best thing to a private plate. I might drop Idlegear an email. |

Offline | Just a bump up to say that my (sorry, my missus') mini will arrive this thursday (missus' birthday) 5 days ahead of schedule. A big thumbs up to Dan at Stephen James in Enfield. Can't wait. Gotta sort out the finance quick. |

Offline | The 'Sports Seats' arent really heavily side bolstered seats like say a 'Recaro' - I think they just look a bit nicer. My wife is also awaiting delivery of a Mini Cooper CVT (end July). She doesnt like 'sports' seats, but is quite happy in the mini ones. And thanks to KenL for that pearl of wisdom, that 'Autos use more fuel'.... wow ! |
