lake district > drive > 100% fun

I went to the lake district for a long weekend with my girlfriend and it was fantastic. I gave her the map and said where do you want to go, she'd point I'd drive. It really gave me a chance to test what the mini is capable off. Loads of long sweeping bends and tight N bends. It really was a blast, oh and the scenery was good too! Also saw around 12 minis over 4 days and all acknowledged my flashes, great stuff.

for anyone heading that way soon, be sure to check out Wynrose Pass (not for the faint hearted or screaming girlfriends) and the A595 (west coast). If you're not then book to go.

you'd be hard pressed to find a bad road in the lakes, so long as you stay away from Bowness & Windermere - too many damn tourists!

Not sure of the route we'll be taking through the lakes on the coast to coast yet but it's bound to be a hoot with 30 minis in tow. I know Hardnot & Wrynose have been ruled out as being completely impractical for 30 minis in a convoy, which is a shame but then again i wouldn't want to have to reverse 30 minis back down

Have you tried Kirstone Pass between Ullswater and Windermere!!! that was Great fun to drive. Last time I was on that a porsche 926 overtook me, and I passed him 10 miles later to see his car ditched off a small stone wall! I just laughed!

I also driven up from Glasgow to Lochlomand, then on to Loch Fynnes then to Oban then Fort Williams. Then back along towards Oban and onto Stirling via the Glenns obviously over a few days).... and boy the scenery, the roads were FAR FAR FAR better than the lakes! I really do recommend it

Nearly wiped out big time at new year overtaking a truck on a long straight road back from Carlisle to Keswick (not the M6).
It had been raining hard and I attempted an over take didnt spot the very deep puddle it was nice of the truck to speed up and move over out towards me as I passed blinding me with spray.
So big splash lots of flashy yellow light and brown pants all round.
Two days later had fun with a porsche it was minus two some snow on the ground much more fun than summer. You dont need to be going nearly as fast to scare yourself.
Shaun.
