New to the forum and new to the Mini world!
Have just got myself a mint condition 2005 Cooper S and i love it.
That said; I am looking to modify the exterior a little, my Mini is silver with all the chrome trimmings, and twin black bonnet stripes.
I am considering doing the following:
- Black Headlight and Taillight Surrounds
- Black Bonnet Scoop
- Black Alloys
- Black Handle
- Black Grille
- Possibly blacking out the chrome side line?
Is there anything else that I could do? I'm rather unimaginative and dont want my car to look "Halfords" but more of a classy look.
It has already been remapped to 200Bhp and im having a 15% pulley fitted soon so its already relatively quick off the blocks!
The chrome can be a classy look as it is, especially on a 'clean' car, and as a Silver S is pretty rare anyway, you already have something miles away from a Halfords look. The fact every other owner is blacking bright ware out is more of a Halfords look imo.
Aero kit? Does nothing for the car, and gets damaged/scruffy easily.
Personally, I would spend the money on rechecking the map if you haven't been given a print out showing the fuelling as well as power, tidy up any poor quality elements of previous modification if there are any, and enhance it's suspension performance with some new or stronger bushes in key places, plus brake performance.
Well done on finding a nice Silver car, I wish I could. I think they look great with the right spec (including chromeline interior and exterior)
Chipping a 2005 Cooper S will not give you 200 BHP, more like a 6bhp boost
I have seen a few minis with backed out chrome and they do look good but if done bad they look cheap.
Spend your dosh on brakes 1st, then cat back exhaust, air filter (Dave F) and your 15% pulley.
Look at rims as well, dont go above 17" or your handling will suffer
I'm planning on simple exterior mods on my 2003 MCS keeping the chrome but extending the piano black touches that are already on things like the mirrors out outer A pillars.
Original:
proposed changes:
Smooth and paint the black bumpers to be a gloss piano black (just wet in the picture)
Dark silver alloys
Same gloss black on grill (not an aero grill)
Nice wheels and an Aero kit are the way to go in my opinion.
Those two additions are, admittedly, the most costly, however, they have the biggest impact on the visual appearance of your car.
Here is my grey MCS with blacked out parts! I'm massive anti chrome so trying to get rid of as much as possible! Quick and easy way is plastidip, works wonders and if you get bored you can just peel it off
Ps I know my wheels are awful looking to replace ASAP!
I'm new here as well but I am already excited by some of the things I am seeing. I've got to say i'm a big fan of the work you want to do on your mini and i love the color scheme you want to go with. I did something similar to my first car and i plan on doing a similar job once i get my new mini.
