Well need a few pointers i am going to look at a 09 convertible with 48500 miles on the clock. What bad points should i be looking for or listening for, it looks like second generation from the pics.
Mini Cooper R57 convertible 2009 is an N12 engine. Has none of the inherent problems associated with the Cooper S engine. I have the 2009 and have had no problem at all with the mechanicals. Watch out for any fabric wear spots on the soft top. Make sure the hood goes up and down smoothly.
Check the service history and have a peek at the oil colour and level. Anti roll bar bushes at rear need replacing 10k miles or so, causes knocking noise.
You might want to get one with the best add ons, cruise control, climate control, HK stereo. Smile factor in spades. Not sure about dog space though, rear seat would take two medium dugs.
The 2nd Gen LCI (facelift) occurred with July 2010 production. In some markets (eg. Europe) cars built March 2010 onward had the newer (N16 and N18) engines.
