Question Is it worth it to order foglights along with xenons?

Topic pretty much sums it up. I've ridden in a 1 car with Xenon's before and they lit the road up for as long as I can see. Just curious if it is worth it for me to rder fog lights as well as xenon's? Currently my GTI has fog's and I very rarely use them...thoughts?

If it gets foggy around your way, then yes.

The Xenons are very good in clear conditions due to their white/blue(er) light. Better than the Halogens. However, the whiter light will not penetrate fog and mist as well as a more yellow light. So the slightly more yellow (and low) light of the fogs, I have found, is very useful in bad fog and mist.

I would say both are a good deal if you're getting the sport package. If you get both separately, I think $500 for the HIDs is a little spendy. Get the fogs though. It adds a switch to the panel and then the wiring is always there if you want to get some different ones sometime. Plus, I think they only add $140 to the price. To put them in later is significantly more money. The HID's are VERY cool I must say. I just had other things I wanted to spend 500 clams on and didn't want the "sport pkg".

foglights and headlights are two completely different beasts. you don't use your headlights to penetrate fog. you don't use your foglights to light the road up far ahead.

1. do you drive at night much in dark areas, you may find the xenons very useful, get them.

2. do you drive in foggy conditions much, you may need the fogs, get them.

but the one doesn't replace the other. and whatever you do if you get the fogs ONLY use them in foggy conditions, they're not for everyday use. run a search on 'fog'.

it doesn't get foggy here all that often, so i very rarely use my fogs. but hey, they're spiffy and you get the extra switch and wiring so i figured $120 is worth it.

Foglights can be used for other weather conditions than fog (at least here in the Midwest). They are good for dust gusts, for rain, and especially good for snow.

However, I have determined over the years that yellow fogs work better than white ones. You know how when it's raining at night, and your headlights seem to disappear and everything looks darkened? Your headlights are actually bouncing off the wet pavement. Yellow fogs do not bounce as much, and the roadway is much more visible.

Now, if I can figure an easy way to get yellow lenses....

I have both and glad I got them together. The fogs just add a little more light even if it is not foggy.

Cheers,

Blue Cooper

Get them! Forget about the fog, where you live at night in the rain on the highway they are the best thing since sex. (I can say that because I'm old.. and I forget some things.) They give you light in front of you, and off to the sides (curbs, deviders, you know all that Jersey stuff.)

haha better then sex??

I'm definatley set of Xenon's, they are the greatest thing in my opinion cause well night vision is very important to me like it should be to everyone. It rarely gets foggy where I live but sometimes I use them in my car now if its really nasty out. Like what most people said I figured for 140 I can't really go wrong and they'll be pre-wired for something different along the way if I feel the need to change them.
