Offline | Yesterday I parked my car outside my friend's house and went out with my friends for whole day. I picked up my car at night and since I was kind of tired I didn't realize anything unusual. The next morning when I was about to drive my car out of the garage I saw my driver-side door was vandalised with a large spot of sprayed-paint-like substance It looks like dirt (it's black) but when I tried to remove it with water it doesn't work I have yet to know what kind of stuff it is but in case it is spray paint is there any good chemical that removes it while not damaging the body paint? I should've included a picture here but I felt so down about it and it was raining yesterday so.. maybe I will take one sometime today. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the advice obehave. It seems like a light coat of spray paint, thin and dry. I checked the auto store and gee those clay bars are expensive. A small-than-soap size costs like 20 bucks+ CAD. I wanted to check other places but no luck so I was thinking to try again tm. On my way back home I was thinking if I should try removing them again with car cleaning liquid. So I put a bit of those on a cloth and tried to rub them hard on the paint area. I tried harder and it seemed to remove them. It took me about an hour of continous rubbing with my two poor thumbs to finish rubbing 95% of those dots. Luckily the area wasn't too big otherwise think I really need to get those expensive clay bars or even being taken care by body shops. Here are the shots b4 it was cleaned: |

Offline | Clay bar should take that out if you do it quickly. I would recommend mother's clay. comes with a bottle of detailer required as a lubicant between the clay and paint. I would get the clay asap. Where are you located in BC? |

Offline | Mother's clay: is it a brand's name? ![]() Yeah on a second thought I might still get a clay to rub it again to make sure all of those dots are gone coz otherwise it's gonna stay forever there and no one wants a dotted MINI ![]() I am in Vancouver, how about you? Darn they just lost that hockey game tonight ![]() |

Offline | Oh I've seen that one. It's much more expensive in Lordco. I checked Canadian Tire's online and it's cheaper so I guess I'll get one there tonight. Thanks again for all the advice from you guys ![]() |

Offline | I'm sorry to see your MINI marked like this, mikkol, but relieved that you're on the way to getting it back to normal. Have you figured out what the black stuff is / how it happened? Have you got it all off yet? My MINI was deliberately spray painted with purple paint at close range, the dealer use a solvent to get it off again. There were still some purple spots left, kept finding them even months later, I found these came off with Autoglym super resin polish (very mildly abrasive) and a cotton stockingette cloth. Offline | Oh yeah I saw your post. That was really a disaster Thanks for your concern yes most of the "dots" are gone but some that are just still there no matter how many times I tried to take them off. But fortunately they are not noticable unless I really look at the body closely (actually today I even found some on the handle as well). Those clay bar really works well as suggested Here's the pic after it's cleaned: |
