Offline | Factory Alarm or After Market Alarm? Hello – I plan to put an alarm in my Mini. The factory alarm seems a bit pricey ($650). I am thinking about putting an after market alarm in the car (Python Car Alarm System [no snakes]). I have one in my 2002 Honda CRV and am very happy with it. I paid about $300 for the alarm, including installation. The people who installed my alarm put this same alarm in Porsches, BMWs, etc., so I know it is very good. Thoughts or opinions? Thanks. |

Offline | Bonjour, I got the factory alarm (£200 factory fit option here). I considered getting a Clifford Concept 300 alarm for around £250, but as the factory one is Thatcham certified I thought I may as well stay with that. I also thought it better to keep everything on the one key. I have been very happy with the alarm. I've set it off a few times by mistake and I can say it's very loud indeed! All the best. |

Offline | I've always heard factory alarms are never as good as aftermarket ones.... I had a highly "stealable" car before, and I put an aftermarket one. I know this might not help you much, I'm just writing what I think! MINI Cooper Feb'03 built |

| MINI2 Regular | I am very happy with the factory alarm. It's nice to have the alarm so fully integrated with the car. Offline | If you have an 03 model, you can buy the alarm kit and install it yourself for $300. Call Brian at classicmini (OH). Dealer may charge you $50 or so to activate it once you've installed it. |
