Unhappy this officially sucks

My MINI broke down today. During a normal drive the check engine light flashed and then the computer went down--no tach, no nothing. I quickly looked at the speedo and saw that the temp gauge was at the max. Then I noticed that the car seemed to be stuck in first gear. I pulled over to try and sort things out, but nothing could be done. My MINI is being loaded onto a flatbed and taken back to Memphis, TN--exactly one month from the day I picked her up. This is a sad, sad day. Maybe some quality Monsta stalking will make me feel better. No, not even that can ease my pain.

Wow, that stinks! Sorry to hear it. How far is the Memphis dealership from you? I hope it gets fixed up and back to you soon. Are they going to get you a loaner?

Little Rock Arkansas to Memphis Tennessee. Depending upon how backed up I-40 gets and how fast you want to drive it is 150 miles and about 2 1/2 hours.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

I am sorry to hear about your MINI LYD, mine had a similar thing one day but the engine did not stop. The temp guage went up to hot when I first started it, switched off and on and it was ok. Never happened since.

The fuel guage refused to work one day though but that was solved by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting!

Don't worry I'm sure it will be back with you soon

the MINI has gone...

Hey LYD

Sorry to hear of experience... CoopRaNites one month old 2 and near completion of the running in period.. I can imagine how you feel but they'll fix yours.

I am sure MINI2 can keep you occupied for a liddle while until they diagnose the problem.

All the best and keep us posted

BOGUS

I just heard from the service department and my car shut down due to a short in the second instrument cluster. It eases my mind that it's not a huge problem, but I'm kinda miffed that they are not bringing the car back to me. Now I have to pay $50 to take the bus to Memphis on my day off and put wear on my car on one of the most dangerous stretches of highway driving it back to Little Rock.

I guess it was naive of me to think they'd bring it back, but since the car was so new and it was a problem with the car and not something I caused, I thought they would take care of me. I love my car but this experience is really making me worry about my future with this car. I've never had a car give me problems this early on so I can't help but think the worst. I need some comforting.

grrrr.

A short?!

Jeeze! What is it with these cars!

I'm starting to get real concerned. In this day and age there's just no excuse for such shoddy workmanship.

I'm starting to feel that I made the wrong choice.
