I was advised by an elderly neighbour to use premium petrol when running older cars. I gave it a go today, filled up with momentum at Tesco.
To me it feels like as if the car responds better and runs nicer. I'm not sure whether this is psychological (as the tests conducted by automotive programs who've used BHP figures showed small variances on N/A engines would suggest).
BP Ultimate is my tipple in all my MINIS (Petrol and Diesels) and I personally feel it does make a difference. My mate has recently converted to BP ultimate in his R50 and after about 2 tankfuls he is now saying that he can feel the difference in his car (2002 R50 Cooper)
I run my gen 1 Cooper S on super unleaded. I don't do big mileage so it makes sense in terms of pence per mile.
Does it run better on 98 Ron? It does feel smooth on acceleration than when I occasionly use 95 Ron.
I know my diesel Alfa much prefers premium diesel too!
