Offline | Well. This is my story. We did the Dragon run just last week - 1,800 miles!!! I drive the car all week back and forth to my bus stop. All is well. Tonight we drive to friends for a cookout - All is good. I let the engine idle as I step from the car and discuss the parking situation with our friends (always consider the parking when looking at a new place to live!). When I get back in The Beast the temp guage is pegged. Shut down the engine and call the 800 MINI number. No problem, they dispatch a flatbed and it shows up in 30 minutes to take my baby to the dealer. It appears that there was plenty of coolant. I believe the fan may have quit working. There seems to have been a rash of those from us who were at the Dragon.....Hmmm Here are some pics: Getting ready to go up: The Beast still has a nice rear end Ah, so this is how the tow hook works Getting secured. Don't roll back... ![]() I'm sure that MINI of Sterling will have her all fixed in no time. I'll let you know the outcome. Motor on!!! ![]() Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!! |

Offline | I think that is what must have happened with mine and I think that is what went wrong with John's car. Other than slaying the Dragon, what do we all have in common - or, is this a week spot on the mini.... I'm just sorry I can't drive it today. Oh well, maybe I'll get some stuff done around the house for a change ![]() Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!! |

Offline | I'm sure I shut it off before any damage was done, but still it bugs me. In the back of my mind I think it will never be the same again.....Hmmm Perhaps I should sell this one and order a brand new 03 model.....*with the JCW kit.....*Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!! |

Offline | This incident once again proves that we MINI owners are a nutty bunch! The entire neighborhood must have wondered about MP out there snapping a complete photo history of the event. I'm only sorry I did not take the camera on the ride to the dealer (because it was after hours I rode with the tow truck to "deliver" the MINI to the dealer. The view of the mini riding on the flatbed from the sideview mirror was kind of neat. Oh well ![]() Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!! |
