Unhappy Just when things couldn't get any worse...

Ok, so most people know now that my head lights are screwed, my paint is fading in some spots, and darker in the other, guess what happens...

I NAIL MY GOD DAMN RIM ON THE STUPID CURB!!!!!

Yes, I was turning left, and flowers which were in the passenger foot well started to fall, I leaned over to pick them up, big mistake, and as I look up, my car is drifting towards the curb... and then comes the sound of concrete grinding with metal. I was so ****ed off with myself. I kept driving and pulled over on to a side street to investigate. Getting out I was expecting to see a rim which was scratched to sh*t, okay, so the rim wasn't as bad as I had imagined, but the rim is very well scratched and its pretty deep. I think I may need a new rim.

I'm so upset with myself, how could I have done something so stupid!?

-MiniMan7

BTW, anyone know how much a 17" S-spoke rim costs?

BTW - my dealer's website says $911 a set of 4 new. Preesumably 1 wouldn't be a whole lot more than 1/4 of that.

Yikes... almost the same thing happend to me... I was making a right turn in a parking lot after getting a mothers day card for my mom and mis judged where the curb was and turned into it and scratched it ACK~~ I'm ****ed at myself too...

Can we buy 1 rim from the dealer?? I think its listed as $225 in the accessories catalog and with BMWCCA discount it will be close to $200 right? Thinking about doing that...

Sorry to hear about it, Adam.

Fortunately, there seem to be occasional ads for single S-spokes in the For Sale forum. Other than that, you could try Ebay, as someone suggested.

Ok just to recap...

I called my dealer today and told him what happened, he told me that they can repair rims! I'm so happy, I didn't want to buy a whole new rim, it would've been way to expensive.

Ok, here comes the ugly part, driving this morning, I noticed way more rattles and buzzes than normal. I booked an appointment with my dealer tomorrow to go and have everything checked out, my dealer thinks it may be the exhaust thats loosened up a bit, and possibly the suspension. I hope its nothing big, but better safe than sorry as some people like to say.

Thanks for the concern everyone!

Tony*13 - I told my girlfriends mom that she better appreciate the flowers, as they probably are going to cost me a good $150 in the end. I also told her not to bring them in the car with her as they are evil!!!

UCSDxB0i - Sorry to hear about it, it really sucks. Call your dealer, I'm sure they'll be able to repair it.

Glad to hear that it all is working out.

I know all to well the hazards of curb surfing.

Ok... bad news once again.

It turns out the control arm absorbed the hit, and pushed back the barring alittle. So now the barring and control arm need to be replaced, then followed by a realignment.

And don't forget the cost of fixing the wheel.

Lets just say, my girlfriends Mom better enjoy those flowers!

Hey MiniMan, the only thing that seems to be fine on my car are the rims, I'll give you my rims for your reliable car
