Offline | There are a range of clear lenses and projection style lights etc for the MINI in all its varients. My question is this how hard is it to get the rear lamp clusters out and switch them for a clear lamp set from say minispares or sport or an aftermarket supplier? Same q for the side repeaters? BMW charge £220 for the rear lenses and £20 for side repeater and then fitting of £160!!!! This is surely a rip off!...The £60 is to fit clear side repeaters and the 90-100 to fit the rear clusters! There is no way it takes an hour to fit some side repeaters surely?! (thats presuming that BMW labour is around the 60 mark like most posh car manufacturers garages are) The same with the rears...surely not 1.5 hours?! Am I right? |

| MINI2 Regular | Changing the side repeaters is simple. Put your hand down the side behind the repeater from under the bonnet and push out the tab closest to you. Push the new unit back in reverse. Ten minutes per side. The rear lights are a bit more complicated, especially the high-level rear light. See this link. This is the fitting guide from MINI. I hope this helps. ![]() Black Jack |

Offline | Rear lamp cluster replacement My ONE was assaulted by a shopping trolley yesterday and now needs a replacement rear lamp assembly (£37 inc. VAT). Fortunately, the "driver" of said trolley was good enough to come into the store and have me paged and will be paying for the damage. I'm happy to swap the lamp assembly myself and there is no other damage to paintwork etc., but was wondering if there are any pitfalls to avoid in fitting a rear lamp assembly? Ian |

Offline | My replacement rear lamp assembly finally arrived and was actually cheaper than originally quoted - £35.40 vs. £37. The 10 mm nut is a Nylock and so takes quite a long time to remove and replace with a standard spanner(wrench), but otherwise the removal and fitting was quite straightforward - though it took some significant pressure from the outside to engage the two metal spring clips.
