Steering Noises !.

For the past couple of week's I have been getting strange knocking noises from the steering !.

Noise comes from somewhere inside the dashboard .

I asume that the steering mechanism has some sort of universal joint somewhere behind the steering wheel that allows the wheel to be tilted .

I am concerned that after 8000 miles there may be a problem with this joint , so while I am at the dealer's getting the RIPPED handbrake gaitor fixed , I will also get their opinion on this problem .

Anyone experienced this ?.

I had that very problem. Took it in, but but had to go back when the part arrived a week later. Don't recall what part was faulty, but it fixed the problem.
