Smile First Mod on MC

BMC air filter
Just wanted to share something with you folks. I just did my first mod to my new MINI Cooper after 6 months of ownership & over 8000 miles. I replaced the stock air filter with the BMC air filter (just a simple exchange) & golly gee deewilligers, why doesn't BMW use these filters when building the car.!? A very noticeable improvement in HP & smoother cold start. I am planning to add
some more modifications, nothing major mind you, but this is a "got to do here folks".
Also, this is my first post on MINI2, & a rather long one.
Helloooooooooooooooooo minidriver!!! You rule the planet!

Where did you pick up this filter?

bmc filter

I ordered the filter from Randy Webb @ MINI Cooper Motorsport. You can go to Minicooperonline & find him under
Randy. If you want one & can't find him, post me back for
more information.

Friends

Hey Francis,
Thanks for your kind words. Its great to have MINI friends.
We make no judgements about MINI friends, just enjoy our
uplifting words together.
My first post started with the BMS air filter & its value.
Had no trouble installing it, as it is just a drop in on the
wonderful MINI Cooper. Had no trouble installing my chrome
gas cap, very very easy. By the way, the cap is a great
visual mod. However, purchased the Chrome Grill Side Markers, & don't seem to be brave enough to make this change. Its very difficult, almost have to remove half of the car it seems. Anyone out there made modification & can
enlighten me on an easier installation. I don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to mechanics, but I do want to
install the markers, as it should ad to the beauty of the cap.
Thanks

The chrome side grills are a 2 minute job!

Just open the bonnet put your hand down behind the grill and push the front and it will pop out. Then just slide the grill forward towards the front of the car to free the rear. Now just twist out the lights and its off.

Reverse this procedure to refit! Just make sure you push the front of the replacement grill firmly into the gromit - you don't want it coming loose.

Thanks for the advise. Looks really realy great. With the
15% tint, Chrome side markers, Chrome racing gas cap, & BMC
air filter, my all CR MINI Cooper is taking shape. Now, whats next? Maybe a Remus?

Really? NICE... may I ask what made you choose the BMC (or is it BMP) instead of the other ones?

I chose the BMS air filter over others because of a recommendation by Randy at MINI MotorSport. It cost a few dollors more but well worth the extra, according to Randy.
Randy seems to be a good guy & is building a MINI business.

Is this the one you are talking about

UNIFilter Drop-in Air Filter
This filter is a dual stage reusable foam element that provides higher flow rates and better filtration than the stock replacement. The foam allows good flow even when the filter becomes dirty - allowing for more consistent gains over the service interval. Gains have been in the 4 horsepower range. [Enlarge]

Price: $39

please post a pic of your filler cap installed? are you talking about the whole mcs cap thingy, or the polished aluminum filler door-flap that moss mini (et al) carries?

seems to me the mcs upgrade must be a lot more difficult to do than the chrome side vents, so i'm thinking you have the aluminum door?

also, welcome to mini2!

Sorry for the typo: Correct name of filter is BMC, made in Italy. To contact go to www.bmcairfilters.com. Or e-mail
BMC_MOTORSPORT_gmbh@t-online.de http://www.bmcairfilter.de
Around $69.00 I believe, I can't find my receipt. All I know is it works great. For a non-mechanical person, I only look for results.

Hey explode!
The gas cap I installed i called the "billet fuel lid door",
from www.mossmini.com Its the competition style polished aluminum door. $124.95. I think it is way way
overpriced, like a lot of mini stuff, like the grill side markers chrome, but hey, if we want it I guess we have to pay. Also, this is a very easy installation. Just a couple of minutes. With the chrome side markers & cap, the visual is quite an improvement. You gotta like it!

I replaced my air filter with a K&N expecting no real noticeable difference. I've been surprised how noticeable the difference is, with a nicer note at high revs and the car seemingly revving more freely.

Highly recommended upgrade.

Bonjour,
Yeah, the K&N seems to be the filter of choice for most folks. When I called Randy at MINI Motor Sport I planned to order the K&N. However, for a few more dollors, he suggested I give the BMC Filter a shot. No complants.
