Dark Silver Help my new project please?

Hi

I'm going to try and make this as non commercial as possible!

I have been selling tuning equipment for Subaru for nearly 2 years over the internet, over these years, we have also sold to many other Japanese and European marques.

We have just launched a new website selling BMW Mini parts with an online ordering facility.

Would you guys please give suggestions where we should advertise? Banner ads on website and adverts in magazine have prooved sucessul in the past, but we are keen to explore anything you suggest.

I hope you don't mind me asking

PS if this breaches this rule please let me know, but I am genuinely after help:

[i]"Direct selling or promoting of products or services (including commercial websites) is NOT ALLOWED, unless the company concerned is currently advertising on MINI2.com, or other prior arrangements have been made with the owners and operators of MINI2."[i]

Many thanks.

Jamie

another thing to note is never give out a link to an unfinished site, its not going to give a good impression to prospective customers.

If you are going to put your site online before its finished, put a holding page with general info and put the unfinished site in a dev folder or something. That way people know whats on the way and have at least your contact details if they want to get info before the site is online

The site looks like its going to be one of the nicer looking tuning sites around, so good luck with that.

Car stickers are a good idea. With every product you send out, include a sticker of some sort, i nice looking window sticker, some people will appreciate that.

Sponsorships are a good way too. The banner advertising is a good idea, but its a tricky thing. You pay for your banner to be splashed ona site but the chances are you wont get a huge return. Speak to Paul Mullet about that, i think he'll have a better understanding of the concept than myself because he uses it on a bigger scale.

I'd tell you more, but then i'd be giving away my trade secrets

Hi!

Thanks for your kind words and excellent feedback!

The site's content is finished and will obviously be constantly updated, but there is a slight problem with the front page not showing the .gif images which I will sort.

I'm glad you like the look of it, we tried to make it as simple as possible, straight to the point.

We do give stickers away to anyone that asks, it was quite amazing in my first year of trading seeing so many Subarus and other Jap stuff wearing them!

Banner advertsing has been a great sucess so far, Scoobnet getting millions of visits a year helps, but on other forums it hasn't been so sucessful.

Again, thanks for your help and keep it coming!

How about a 10% introduction discount on first orders placed using disount codes found on web sites, magizines and banners that you have placed you details on.

Get your self a car fully equipped with your products on and then attend as many new mini events as possible. Get the car covered in full company graphics. Use pictures of the parts installed in the car on the web site.

Regards

Andy

I might be more impressed if you didn't first post the rules about promoting products and then turn around and knowlingly violate them.

But I guess the site administrators can handle this one.

This site is obviously the best way to reach MINI owners. Hope to see you as a sponsor.

No problem

It's a friendly site.

Looks like you have some cool items too. I'm sure Paul will be in touch.

Good luck.

Stickers on cars is a good idea... get a demo car, join in with the whole Mini2 thing... I'd be happy to carry a sticker on my shiney new MCS when it arrives in 3/4 weeks !... are you based in Teesside ?... theres quite a bunch of mini2 er's in the northeast.

I'll be honest i've not been this excited about a new car ever !!!, Mini2 gives such a great knowledge base, hate to think what i'd have done without it during the past 5 months... therefore a great place to advertise !!!!

Hi Jamie,

My advice to you would be to do www.espotting.com and www.overture.com keyword campaigns. I've been in the web design game for many years and to tell you the truth they're the only ones that can get you to the top of the search engines (and within 2 days). It's all prepay stuff, you top it up with £100 at the beginning and pay per click (min of 10p depending on whos already bidding for that keyword). Fairly simple but it definately works. I designed a well known perfume site and within hours of the launch we were getting 100s of hits (over 1000 orders in the 1st week).

If you need any more advice or some database work on your site, feel free to give me a buzz on 0845 644 3151 7 days.

Regards

I dont know how your doing your part ex if you have one, but i didnt get a great deal from Prestonhall, 2k less than book trade for my current car !!!...

Unhappy Thought So.

Andy,

We havent decided how to buy ours yet - we have 2 cars and are not sure which one to part ex/sell. You may have jsut made our mind up.
I have a 1994 Cavalier I would be happy with £400 for, but we have to pay a load of money for the MINI, and we have a 1996 Mercedes C-200 Elegance with FMBSH and 73K on the clock.
The original Idea was to part-ex (dump) the cavalier, but if I get offered enough for Merc it I might take it and then I can drive the Cav for another few months and save up for the Land-Rover Defender I really want to compliment the MINI.
If, as I suspect, Preston Farm give out rubbish part-ex prices then they can have the cavalier!.

Stew.

Stew...
You may do a bit better with yours, I've got an 18month old MG ZR with 28k on the clock, which they obviously dont want... you may fair better with the Merc... I dont think they are any different to any other BMW dealer, at the end of the day i'm buying the Mini whatever they offer me so theres no incentive for them to throw money at me for it... its a bit more hassle for me as i'm going to have to get something else to tide me over, but for the extra money i'm gonna get makes it worthwhile, plus i've had to switch my plate off anyway, so at least that hassle wont delay me any more!!... just hoping that the 14th June is going to be ok !!, got everything crossed...
