Offline | Comfort Opening and Closing with the new minis, you can open the windows and the sun roofs with the open buton on the remote control, but you can not close them with the Remote Control, so would like to know if it is possible to get this changed and make the locking button clsoe the windows and sunroof? can it be re-programmed?, thanks MiniCool |

Offline | Not possible I'm afraid due to safety reasons apparantly. I asked to have it done but it wasn't possible. Did you know you can close windows/sunroof with the key in the door? Red/Black R56 Cooper |

| #1647 of 1960 | That would be a popular request I'm sure. I'd do it. I found I can close both windows at once by putting my index finger on the passenger toggle & stretching my little finger to the driver toggle. Including the sunroof in that game of twister is another story! My MINI cd said to push the central lock up & hold to close all, but it no workie. ![]() |

| M5 Extraordinare! | Its so u wont be holding the button on the remote to close your windows while walking away with someones hand/finger in your window and u dont know it and crushing them. While as if u were closing them with the key u can see all the activity aroudn your car. With that said I still like to close my windows with they remote. |

| MINI2 Senior | As things stand now, it is not possible to reprogram. MINI/BMW does not allow owner access to change options, and this is not even an option. Further, there are several non-U.S. options, like one touch up for the windows, that we can't get due to perceived safety/liability issues in the U.S. To do a "convenience closing" would require reprogramming the BC1 (main body computer). Not something that MINI gives access to. Regards, Dave Gotten anything useful from MINI2? How about giving a little something back? '03 MCS BRG/W Anthracite Pkg 1,2,3 |

Remember that the electronics in the MINI were developed by Siemens. '02 MINI Cooper CVT On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03) |

Offline | This is nonsense. They have one-touch closing in BMW models... why not MINI models?? There is NO good excuse for the lack of one-touch up... The majority of new car models in the US are adding this feature... and MINI is being left behind.... 2004 DS/B MCS Lapis Blue Leather Prem, DSC, Xeon,H/K Finished on Sept 12, 2003 (At Dealer NOW!) |

Offline | I don't think you can have one-touch up on BOTH windows in any country, only on the drivers side. The MINI doesn't have any kind of sensor to check if something is obscuring the window closing (I assume to reduce costs), so they have to cover themselves by not offering it. If they would spend some cash on a sensor, then I don't see why they couldn't allow us this option. It's frustrating not to have it. ![]() MINI2 Master | I think that some BMW's will have automatic window closing, but the MINI does not, here's why: The MINI does not have the safety mechanism found in 'proper' BMW's that detects resistance against a closing window... With your drivers window fully open, start closing the window and then press down lightly on the glass (DO NOT GET YOUR HAND STUCK IN THE DAMN WINDOW). The mechaism will continue to push the window up. On a BMW the safety device they are fitted with will detect the obstruction or resistance and reverse the window winding motor, so you can't get anything stuck in it. The MINI is a 'cheap' car for BMW, they had to make the cut-backs somewhere I guess! |

Offline | Cheap is right Paul! volkswagon offers this feature here in the US (ALL WINDOWS)! I currently have a VW, and am going to be losing some of those little features we all love.... (not that its not worth losing them for the fun factor).... but there is no reason BMW cannot simply do this.... Offline | When I try and use the convenience feature I have to stand dead still and continually hold the button down... if I let go the windows and sunroof stop opening. I like the idea of the feature but I'd prefer not to have to hold the button down continuously!! Richard. ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Hi, I'm new here but I am a member at the BMW forum since I currently own a 2003 325i. I know that this question has been brought up many many times at our forum and I have 2 things to share. 1) You cannot close your windows and sunroof with the remote as that is not an option at all. ( I believe it is only available in some European countries and our cars (US) do not have the Euro spec.) 2) In my BMW all FOUR of the windows convenience close...Look into it at your dealer, I'm sure you'll find one that is willing to help. I look forward to posting here for a while as I am interested in a MC. Hunter |
