Shocking News

Don't think this quote makes me feel any better:

Jack Pitney: "The quality issue in the IQS report said we had a harsh ride. You know, we do. Beginning this month we changed the oil in the shock absorbers which has a dramatic effect on the compliance of the suspension system. We're real serious about quality and we're keeping an eye on it."

If anyone is perturbed by the change in suspension for the Cooper S - Please sign the online petition

Dave (just my luck - I have a May build

Oh S*#@!!! Don't tell me it's the bait-and-switch AGAIN... arrrrghhh! This is ridiculous. It had better not be a floaty Buick-like MINI - I want my MCS to drive JUST LIKE the demo I flogged back in February!

I called them today to get the skinny. Turns out that the cut over was on May 1 and it's all based on production start - which fir me was . . . . May 1 (amazing coincidence). She (the consumer relationship person at MINI USA) couldn't tell me what suspension I'd be getting because my date was so damned close!

We'll see. In the mean time sign the petition.

MINIUSA has already replied to this issue saying the handling performance will be unchanged. Maybe we shouldn't get our knickers knotted up until we find out for sure?

No offense - but if you already have your MINI which it seems you do - I guess getting your Knickers in a twist really isn't an issue.

What a load of cr@p
How can the handling remain unchanged if your changing the suspension setup

It'd be good to know who has actually complained to MINI about the firm suspension in the first place.

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

I'm closing this thread, as this has ALL been done in depth in other threads already.

Please search, or at the very least, take a quick read, before posting.

Please see this thread started by a MINI USA representative:

MINI Shock Absorber Improvement

This thread about the petition:

MINI Shocks Petition

And this one:

New info on shock-absorber "improvement"

All in the general discussion forum, as this is neither Cooper S specific, or country specific.
