Hello friend across the pond!
A friend of mine gives me a lecture every time i refer to my car's bonnet. She claims: "EVERYONE in the UK calls it a "Hood"!"
(I would love to prove her wrong but don't let that sway your vote)

So which is it UK people: Bonnet or Hood ?

A hood in the UK refers to the fabric roof of a soft-top, convertible, open-top or whatever US people call them

Hood and Trunk for the US.

It's nice to be a little different.

There is one other phrase that always gets me.

Friendly Fire - American phrase
Incompetent trigger happy cowboys - British phrase

I would love a hood.
But then again if I had my hood,
I don't think I could fit my trunk,
into my boot...

Here in Scotland it's spelled bonnet but pronounced "bunnet" which can also be used to describe a type of hat normally worn by elderly gentlemen and paw broon!
