Offline | Italian Job & "unwanted attention"? Can't wait to see the Italian job and all of the MINI costars. Seeing all the publicity and the increased public buzz about our beloved MINI has me thinking... Will this cause the average car buying public to run out and buy a MINI? Does this mean longer waiting periods for the Cooper and especially the S? Will the attention and increased demand increase the possbility of watering down the handling characteristics and other sports enthusiast features of the MINI to meet the milk toast masses? Discuss among yourselves... |

Offline | I think there will be additional demand because of the movie - maybe not a lot, but more, for sure. So if anyone is waffling on whether to order one or not -- better do it in the next week! Chip H. ex-MINI Cooper S owner and all around good-guy |

Offline | MINI has restarted the television advertisements again which leads me to believe it's going to be a MINI media blitz to coincide with the movie opening. There is no better marketing tool today than the silver screen. I don't like milk toast... |

| MINI2 Regular | I was talking to dealers last summer when the Austin Powers movie came out - all the available cars suddenly vanished and waiting lists instantly got longer. Movie exposure absolutely sells cars... ~Paul 03 Elec Blue/white MCS Prem/Cold/Fog/Nav Ordered 8/9/02, Built 9/27/02, Home 10/29/02! 71 Volvo 1800E (weekend classic fun) |

Offline | Great! - The more converted the merrier! If we wanted a unique car we wouldn't have gone for a mass produced MINI would we? Stew, Looking forward to being in with the MIN crowd on Sept 1st. |

| 12th Floor Cube Dweller | My worry is that it's going to be like the bunnies that are adopted en masse around Easter. Everyone will want one but not do the homework to find out if it's really for them. Fortunately, if that does mean waiting lists again, maybe the fascination will wear off by the time money needs to change hands for good and only the serious will end up with the car. Offline | My problem is that I can't afford to place an order for my S until summer. The nearest dealer already has a 6-8 month wait for an S. With all the new attention I'm afraid the wait time will be longer and the dealer might try to pull the MSRP+ thing like they did when the MINI first came out. Maybe I'm reading too much in to the ability of a film to influence peoples buying habits. |

| M5 Extraordinare! | They are not THAT mass produced are they?? well at least not in the US. that was a bonus for me. Its not like the Civic or Accord or Camry... those are MASS produced... Just hope MINI will not produce more because of the demand... I still want the MINIs to be somewhat on the low end. |

| MINI2 Regular | They ARE mass produced, it's just that they are only bringing 30,000 or so a year over here to the states. That's like a couple of months sales on an F150 pickup or a Toyota Camry. I only see a couple of other MINI's a month in my neighborhood. Sadly on any given day I'll see one or more Hummers though. btw. I just got back from an advanced screening of the film. It's a good action flick/heist caper. Don't even compare it to the original as it only has a few things in common. It deserves to be a big hit, compared to the other "blockbusters" I've seen in the last week (Xmen 2 and Matrix Reloaded) Who knows how it will fly with the masses however? |

Offline | Greetings All No need to get hung up on BMW selling more Minis. The more the merrier -- the longer parts will be available for this very special car that we've been lucky to drive. Cheers! |

Offline | I know what you mean I know what you mean. I got to pay off bills befor I can order my S. With So cal dealers I hope they don't increase there all ready huge premimums. When is enough enough? I'm hoping to order mine in October. Just when you have hope the premimums might drop Or you can work it down bam! Don't get me wrong I can't wait for the movie. My wife and I have our MINI gear ready to go. I know this movie will do better than 2 Dumb and 2 Ignorant. I'm hopeing that the common person will think the movie will be a flop and will want to spend there $9.00 on another movie. Tavis1 ![]() |
