| Let's Motor. | Small circular reflectors on the inside of the door? I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about, the small circular reflectors that are on the two doors of the Mini. I noticed mine are white, but when I had the loaner Cooper, I noticed they were red? Is there some sort of difference between model spec? Do the S models get white little refectors and the Coopers get red ones? Thanks. -MiniMan7 ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | Just like the side markers which are white on S and orange on Cooper, they did it to be different. Why a different spoiler? Why different side running boards? To make the two models stand apart, I guess. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! Offline | Speaking of which, this directly ties into something I had wondered when I received my MCS. There was a red reflector about the exact same size as the white ones sitting in my passenger door pocket when I recieved my car. I absolutely can't figure out where it could have been from or anything that's missing a reflector. I'm wondering if it just happens to be an extra reflector that was placed in my car...maybe at the VPC it was originally red by accident and they swapped it with the white one and forgot to throw it out? ![]() |

Offline | nickworld, like it ![]() Not sure this still counts in this country, (the standard of parking has deteriorated over the years). Don’t you have to park facing the direction of traffic flow, If so and you park on a dark road, when you open the Cooper door the red reflector would warn the traffic to an open door and would be legal, the S having a white reflector would be illegal. |

![]() Man about the house | As far as I know, you are supposed to park with the direction of traffic flow, not against Mickey (unless I'm reading you wrong) but I don't think there is a standard controlling door reflectors, only rearward reflectors (which must be red). They're only useful if the door is wide open and no-one is standing in the way (i.e. getting out the car!) anyway. These extra bit on the S are mostly just to charge more money (called up-charge or product differentiation) and are bit that are not significantly more expensive to produce but add salable value to the product.. therefore a bigger margin for the seller. | MINI2 Master | True, S stuff is more expensive. S clear side lamps are more expensive than the Cooper orange ones for some strange reason. | Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Hickster. The law in UK is you can park your car in the direction of flow of traffic or against. If you park against the flow of traffic you must leave your side lights on as you will be displaying no reflectors. It's in the highway code or driving manual, can't remember which. As for the door reflector issue. Displaying white to front and red to the rear only applies to reflectors attached to the outside of your car. They can't govern what you have on the interior of your car. Besides which, there are no laws pertaining to door reflectors, as they're not a legal requirement here anyway. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
