United-States Italian Job Sneak Preview in Raleigh

I've already got my tickets for the sneak preview of The Italian Job at Briar Creek in Raleigh (Saturday, May 24th, 7:30 p.m. show time). Anyone else planning on attending?

Now THAT was fun! I was surprised to see a classic Cooper featured and even my 6 year old noticed the blinking DSC light on the speedos. Curious, though, all the MINI's had duel center exhuast outlets and "S" body kits, but only the red one was an "S." The magic of Hollywood.

What an awesome movie!

Actually ncdave, when I did notice the rear angles of the Mini's the Cooper's had normal Cooper exhausts? I'll check closer on Thursday when I go see it again.

They did all sound like they had performance exhausts put on however.

Uh-Oh - I'll have to check again too although I'd swear they looked like "S's" save the bonnet scoop.

NCDave -
I looked for you at the theater - was that your Silk Green MC with the tag "TINYDNCR"?

I ended up parking at the far end of the lot - had a nice conversation with the owner of a new Nissan 350Z - turns out he's a big fan of VIR, and he has done some laps there in it.

MiniMan7 -
I think part of it was all the cars had the Aero kit on them. I did notice that they got the sounds right - when the MCS was center screen you could hear the supercharger.

Chip H - Yup - that was me. I ran into a woman who just took delivery of a gold/black MC but didn't want to bring it out yet. She was duly chastized and was very good about it. I suspect she has one of the first golds around here and really wanted to see it in the flesh.

I'm at VIR for nearly every spectator event. I have to miss the gold cup races the weekend of 6/6/-6/8 but will be at the HSR meet on 7/11-7/13.

I noticed a lot of people stopping to peer into your car after leaving the theater - time to clean the windows!

Did you invite her to Friday's event? It would cool to have a Gold there, since it's such a new color.

Chip - I told her about Friday and invited her to come for the same reason. Also, she was unaware of any MINI sites other than MINIUSA so I informed her about MINI2 as it represents a wealth of infornation in addition to its social side.

Unfortunately, my daughter's graduation party is that evening so I can't attend which obviously made the sneak preview a must see. If I can, I may scoot over a little early just to introduce Lori (my MC) to her cousins.

I'll be going to a showing this Thursday nite. My dealer called this afternoon. It seems they've rented out an entire (300+ seats) theater, and are giving tickets to local owners.

Unfortunately, I missed out on getting tickets to the "BIG HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE!!!" this Tuesday. All MINI's and only MINI's at a drive-in in L.A. I'd been spending so much time driving & washing my baby, that I'd missed signing up.

Ah, well, such is life.

Does anyone know when The Italian Job hits the UK? I presume it has already hit US, if so will have to try to see a screening copy.

That would be nice if you could stop by. The more the merrier!

I was going into a Bojangles today (a spicy fried-chicken place for those not in the US South), and got stopped & quizzed for about 10 minutes by a retired couple from New Jersey about the car. The wife just loved it (but didn't use the "cute" word for some reason). The husband I could tell didn't really "get it" (they were driving a Buick).

Chip - I must be brain dead, but I just noticed your signature. So that's why we have SUV's on the road! - well done!

I just recently changed it (used to have Inspector Gadget on there).

While I am not anti-SUV, I am of the opinion that they make lousy commuter vehicles. When I had mine, it was very useful (carrying patio furniture home from the store, carrying my mountain bike inside, etc). I made sure that I bought one that was enviromentally friendly and got over 20mpg (the ML-320 is a ULEV on the car scale). As a Mercedes, it didn't deserve to wear the star, but as an SUV, it was excellent.
