Question MINI COOPER towing a T@B for hire, and what have you towed?

It had to happen. My MINI had a tow bar fitted. I wanted it to tow our trailer. Bags of cement in the back of a MINI are not a good idea! Trips to the tip etc are far easier.

Then my wife asked,"Can we get a caravan to tow behind the MINI?". Well its not such a daft request. Consulting MINI technical services, I discovered that you can tow a braked trailer of 650kg up a slope of 12% (1:8 I think), or 800kg up a 8% ( 1:12 i think). My Brinkmatic towbar is limited to 850 kg. Normally you tow 85% of the vehicle weight, but MINI have restricted the weight for some unusual reason to 800KG max.

This towing limit has placed a severe restriction on the type of caravan thet might be towed. It seems that I might only be able to tow an Eriba Puck or Familia, or a Tabbert T@B ( 520KG)which seems to be the mini version of the American Airstream caravan. There is even a picture of one being towed by a MINI COOPER
here.

Just click on the "Ruchti's Renting Services" folder, then scroll down and click on the MINI.

So what do you think? Has anyone towed a beach cat yet?

Its not often "cool picture" and a caravan get metioned together. Its a wonder that MINI have not put a T@B (made by Tabbert)in the MINI Accesories brochure. It is very much a "lifestyle" product that goes with the MINI. The caravan pictured is also available in orange or silver alloy (naked version). A chequered sun awning is available too .. Issabella awning.

its a Freedom Microlight caravan, weighs 470kg breaked and is availiable from Freedom Caravans in Stafford, a great 2 berth caravan that i'm hoping to use for Mini In The Park if i get the tow bar fitted in time

and yes i did tow it with a classic mini

You do have the alternative Brinkmatic towbar that is about £400 cheaper than the BMW one, and IMHO no different. I posted about this earlier here.

The MINI should be a far better tow car!

Not quite a beach cat, but the first MINI adventure I had was towing my Votex (150kg in towing configuration) down to North Cornwall (350 miles each way), this was two days after I picked the car up

I've got a non-removable witter towbar fitted for £250 all in, the MINI dealer wanted £850 for the proper MINI towbar

I can post some pictures of the bar if your interested.

Single handed, high performance boat

I've got some pictures at home, I'll post them tonight, together with some pics of the towbar
