It doesn't make any performance difference if you get the replacement air filter element [In my opinion] but it's worth it for the lifetime factor and the fact you can clean it. I have it in my R50 for this reason
That was the only reason why I bought it Rob, nothing else. For all I know it may well make the car breath better but I can honestly say that I don't notice any difference
Have one on my R50 out of curiosity, the company selling it on Ebay were having a stock clearance so the price was exceptional. Induction noise is all you will notice, the performance claims are so miniscule you would never notice. Prob only benefit is the ability to clean it compared to conventional paper elements. The only thing that gave me better fuel economy and power was a new throttle body on a 2001 built Cooper R50.
Beauty is in the ear of the beholder not a silly question but it will give induction roar and I have heard that it gives the impression of SC whine. Yet to put one on my R53 but that would be more for the washability more than anything else.
No Sean ye cannae whack it. Going to use mine next week. Save petrol, no rush, read a book!
And I'm getting an Orranje Stealth intake fitted on Monday (plus a load of other things). Used, but only for a few months. Only £65 fitted by my new 'best friend breaker man'. Inc the cut scuttle, so not destroying mine.
Hoping for some good sounds.
A CAI does....if you have a 15% pulley as well. Otherwise it doesn't much. See this thread and look at the graphs. 1320 MINI testing - Orranje CAI and 15% pulley, facelift R53
I'm having an Orranje Stealth CAI and Milltek fitted. get the car back tomorrow.
And I'm gong to get a 15% pulley fitted. not so much for outright speed but driveability.
