Offline | I am planning on getting my windows tinted very soon but am wondering about other peoples experience in this. When you open the doors the windows (either one up front) goes slightly down when you open and slightly up when you close. All those that have had tint before know that in general you are not supposed to open your windows for the first 48 hours, or so. If you do the film (tint) can crumble because it's not 100% stuck to your window. So my question is, have any one of you had problems with the tint when you open your door(s) or did the tint shop leave your doors open while doing the job, thus missing the small part of the wondow bottom that was down while the door was opened? I know this sounds like a really anal question but I can just imagine driving round with tint and there be either crumbled film or the bottom part of your window untinted. Any comments on your experience? .Héctor. |

| My mini is my casket | No problems here. The guy who did mine ran the tint all the way to the lip of the window, but that is becasue its those type of windows. Windows that have a "frame" around them normaly have the tint start about 1/4" down the window. If your worried about the wear and tear, just have them cut the tint off about that far down. I have had 4 cars tinted so far. And never had a problem. It really only takes about 24hours to set. Hope that helps |

Offline | window tinting No problems with my tinting either. They cut just a small amount off of the top of the glass and pushed some tint down the bottom of the window. The tint looks great and they had already done several MINI's ![]() |

Offline | No problems with mine either The people that did mine took the door trim off so they could access more of the glass to cover the bit that drops down. as for the top they put the film right to the edges and then used a very fine nail file to feather the edges so it doesn't catch when you close the door, it's so fine you cant see it. and it is a great job. Offline | Sorry to be the only negative here, but, my driver door window (UK) had the tint peel off right in the corner at the top rear, give the firm their dues though, they sorted it and no problems since. The trim was removed to allow a full tint to be applied Bonnie Scotland ![]() |

Offline | As far as I've heard, all you need to do when you get your windows tinted, is remove the fuse for your power windows.... (this will prevent the windows from automatically adjusting when you open/close the doors.... just pull the fuse for 48 hours and you'll be fine, and your tint service won't need to do anything special 2004 DS/B MCS Lapis Blue Leather Prem, DSC, Xeon,H/K Finished on Sept 12, 2003 (At Dealer NOW!) |

Offline | No problems. The tint shop knew all about the window dipping and took that into account when they applied the tint. Couldn't roll them down for 3 days but they came out looking great! Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable! |
