Mini to the Rescue

Left the house this morning to find the rear tyre on my Alfa had decided it didn't like having air in it (It was checked yesterday and all was good). So despite the fact the R52 has been tucked up in the garage for a few weeks all clean and polished it was needed.

It then began the car moving quick step! I had to moved the Alfa off the drive, then my folks Merc as they are staying for a bit of a holiday I was finally in to the garage. 1st turn of the key and the mini fires up no problem . A bit of pop and crackle from the exhaust always makes me smile, then realised it was 7 O clock and some of my neighbours wouldn't appreciate a supercharger whine and exhaust burble at that time.

Then the Merc was put back on the drive. I left the Alfa by the road. I popped home at lunchtime to top up the air and put it back on the drive. Fingers crossed the tyre doesn't go down again or its a trip to ATS on saturday.

Thank you mini you saved me a cold walk to the train station and a long walk up the hill to the office today!!

I like your optimism re the tyre staying inflated. Maybe someone stole the air in the night

I dont live near Manchester so no chance of theiving

Think it was because the car was parked half on/off the pavement at a bit of an angle. It was looking ok tonight. I'll check it again tomorrow.

So it's another mini day. Wonder if it'll be a roof down morning! . Might need a wooly hat or two!!

Hee hee!!

Ironically the tyres are Michelin Pilots!!

Think it's the valve that is faulty.

Very annoyed now as found that the air theif was in fact a cracked rim!!

Makes me think what damage these potholes around me are doing to the rims on my mini.

Delights"?" Of lower profile tyres and alloys.

At least it's beer o'clock time!!!

Yeah I dont want to guess on a genuine one!! There are 2nd hand refurbed ones out there. Not sure if I'd go 2nd hand on a wheel. I'll see what the lease company say on monday.

I'd have the car up on house bricks and tell the lease company that someone has made off with all 4

Have found a new set of 4 wheels for £800 (no tyres) . This may have to be my fall back.

Can't prop my car on bricks, with my (scouse) accent people will think I nicked my own wheels

£551 to replace the broken wheel. My company have paid for it. Phew!! Don't think they pay again. Feel they will ask me to foot the bill!

Don't think I'll be dropping some 18" on my Cooper S. 17's and run flats feel harsh enough on the roads round here!!!

At least it turned out ok in the end. i hit a pothole on the motorway of all places on Sunday. I thought it might have done a rim in. So far the TPMS has shown the pressures to be ok.
