Offline | A little bit of irony is needed sometimes - it makes life worth living sometimes. Too many people take themselves and their cars far too seriously. My MCS is a great car despite some faults. I like it so much I am thinking of ordering a new one for delivery 1st Jan 2004 and I can hopefully guarantee a 2004 YM. This thread need closing. 2004 CR/B MCS |

Offline | According to Last weeks Auto Express. That due to the range being increased to 5 models, BMW want the MINI to be marketed from seperate dealerships. Sound's like a good idea, dedicated team's to deal with MINI's. (Probably so they can make room in their showrooms to sell the BMW Rolls Royce !!!) |

Offline | See my earlier reply to show that I don't want to be sucked into the ownership debate, but its an interesting point that Geist made just then. I bought my Mini from William Jacks MINI in Cobham - a Mini dealership down the road from the parent BMW dealership. I think even BMW have been surprised by the success of the MINI and as a result are now starting to hive off into separate MINI dealerships that can run - at least notionally - on their own. Though naturally the cash will still filter through the Royal Bank of BMW... |

Offline | Dukesantos, you mentioned that the W on the vin number belongs to Germany. I thought the first letter on a vin number is a Car Manufacturer letter, not a country based letter. For example, Hondas all have an H, all GM cars start with a G, and all BMW cars (including the Mini, it IS a BMW because it is built by BMW) start with a W The country where the car is built has nothing to do with the car manufacturer. There are even Brazilian built Audis and Mercedes. The way I see it is like Toyota and Lexus. Two brands, same manufacturer. |
