How strong is the Clutch?

Anyone know how stong the clutch is in the Cooper S? Is it weak at all? You know how like sometimes if u rev it too high and let out the clutch it wont catch and will just sit there burning the clutch like mad. Or is there not enough hp and torque in the MINI to be worried about that kinda stuff?

I'm always paranoid about reving it too high and buring the clutch. I'm waay to use to reading about the M5s and their clutches and having to be careful cuz thats the weakest link.

can i just rev to 4K and drop the clutch?

Why would you want to do this? A bit ricer IMHO.

I certainly would not do this in my MCS.

Hehe ya i know... I would probably never do this... or even if i do not more than once... I love my car too much and to me that seems like it will hurt it. But I was just wondering if thats possible and still not hurt the car.

just a personal thing, but owned an FTO before my MCS, and changed my driving style to make sure I was always of the gas before I changed gear as much as poss - owned it three years, the clutch biting point stayed in much the same position from when I bought it to when I sold it, and never had a moment of trouble with changing gear or clutch slip - and it was built in 95 and still had the original clutch in. Let my mate drive it one night, and horrified how much it VROOMMED when he changed gear, and he was a copper who had gone on many advanced driving courses. the moral of the story? You can make rapid progress without burning out your clutch...

Speaking of the clutch.. When cold I have a squeek when the clutch is being engaged. It continues each time until the car is warmed up. The dealer says it is normal on the MCS.

I don't think so. Any thoughts...?
