| MINI2 Resident Doctor!! | help me decide...Sat Nav or full leather and climate control i don't know what to do!! i am about to order a new cooper s...if i forego full leather and climate control i could get sat nav...roughly the same price. now the climate control looks good, but i think i rather still just turn dials than fiddle with over comlpicated heating controls and full leather...does the bit you sit on get creased and baggy...cos the half leather with the lapis blue cloth almost looks like the full textured leather...i didn't realise it was cloth in the demo i sat it. but then again...do i really need sat nav....is it worth it...is it cool, cos i love gadgets...and i feel that the sat nav will make the car feel like it is in a completely different class than a small hatchback...make it feel like a 30 grand bmw! oh help!! no answers like..."its your decision!!" no help...i want reasons for both! thanks mark MY MINI WAS A: 03 Chilli Red White Cooper S ![]() I'VE HAD IN BETWEEN: BMW Z4 2.5 V6, Golf GTi 2.0T DSG AND I'M BACK TO: 04 Dark Silver Mini cooper S |

| MINI2 Regular | Go for the Sat Nav. I considered full leather, but had seen some low milage MINIs with very 'baggy' leather. Climate control is great you can just dial in the temperature you want, but once you get to know the settings on your vehicle, why do you need to know the temperature. Now with the Sat Nav, when your driving and you are going to want to drive your MINI, you can programme in your destination and it will guide you there. It will tell you points of interest at your destination. It will guide you to petrol stations in areas your unfamiliar with. You get the trip computer as part of the package. As your is a new order you will get the DVD system which is much faster and has more capacity than the previous system. And finally it's a great gadget. ![]() Black Jack |

Offline | Re: help me decide...Sat Nav or full leather and climate control Neither mate. Go for the Aero Side skirts and clear back lights. Sat Nav is an expensive toy, you'll have the windows down posing when it's hot so just have the A/C, and half leather because it's too hot in the summer, and too bloody cold in the winter with the full leather!. Just my opinion, but i'm sure it will save you some pennies this way ![]() Chlli Red Cooper, White roof, 17" S Spoke, Chilli Pack , Chrome Vents, Personalised Plate + all other little extras inc CD Boost, Air Con, Heatad Mirrors, Traction Control. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Well I have leather and Auto Air Con in my Works and No Sat Nav. In my opinion the Sat Nav in the centre doesn't look right. Square screen in a round hole? Don't think so. Auto air con is cool. Just set the temp and don't worry too much about it again. Also has a cool window clear option. Steamed up front and rear? Just hit the button and the electronics work out the outside and inside temp and adjust the air flow and temp accordingly to remove the condensation and switches on the heated rear window to clear that. In fact this system is just as quick at melting snow and ice on the front screen as the heating screen option! ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | Get an ipaq satnav system installed. Cheaper than the MINI one and you can take it with you, with it having more functions than just satnav. Just my two penneth. |

Offline | SatNavs a gimmick - a road atlas is much cheaper. Go for Half leather/manual air, should leave you a nice wedge to spend on something else. Auto Air can be a pain for some.... many who have it don't seem to like it. |

Offline | I have Sat Nav, Leather, and Auto air...If I had to give up anything, the Sat Nav would be the last to go. It's a great gadget...It has helped me find ways to places that I have no clue about...okay, sometimes it takes one wrong turn but it reroutes you to the correct path. And speedometer moves over to the steering wheel (I don't like it in the middle). And you get a cool lookin shark fin on the back of your car instead of that flimsy antenae (bad spelling) which makes the mini look like a remote control car. You won't regret the Navigation System....let me know what you choose. |

| MINI2 Resident Doctor!! | oh i don't know...i recon the the climate control won't add much to the resale value as all people really look for is air con...the leather is a different matter...but not if it looks old! sat nav is the same but i recon a mini with the nav would sell for quite a bit more...even though u wouldn't get your money back! 5hit i still don't know...might see if i can get sat nav and leather take other bits off....or else build me a mini cooper s for 17500 chilli red...the way you would have it...gotta spend the lot! cheers ps. no...."its up to u!" answers! Offline | Sat nav is really only worth worrying about if you have a poor sense of direction/map reading skills, can live with the annoying voice speaking to you as you drive, or if you are gonna get the TV/DVD or playstation add on put in that use the sat nav screen (I dont think the UK BMW do this option, theirs only uses rear seat headrest screens I think. There is a company who do the kit imported from BMW Japan) Go for the leather and full auto air (climate control) in my opinion....but like I said keep in mind the TV/Playstation option....it does look sweet...but just for the purposes of SAT Nav I wouldn't bother getting it. my 2p. but others may say different |

Offline | Word of advice....BMW MINI dealers near me both said, Sunroof adds to resale value, air con adds more and climate control get you touch more also. The resale on a cooper or s with sat nav but normal aircon is around the same as non satnav and climate....give or take a 100 or so quid. So they told me when I was wieghing my options on my car. But thats just the dealers near me...others could take a totally different line..and really like cars to have satnav...I would ask a different dealer to yours what they pay more for...satnav car or full climate and leather on resale. Then you can go back to your chaps and make the decision slightly more informed. |

Offline | I'm waiting on the delivery of my MC and I did fancy the Sat Nav but decided against it as I love the look of the big speedo in the centre of the dash. The wee speedo above the steering wheel just didn't look the part. AA route map in the boot of the car for me instead!!!! |

Offline | I (and everyone in my family) would choose sat nav again if we had to choose. The DVD sat nav provides more information than just navigation - on the destination, location, fastest v. avoid highway route, etc. Originally, we debated about it because our MINI was intended to be a local driver, not the distance, family trips car. Turns out that the MINI is so much fun to drive ... and the navigator has so much fun working the HK radio features and the sat nav ... that we're using it on longer journeys than just back and forth around town (even though it's cramped when 6 footers ride in the front and back). As with all things MINI - the choices can seem daunting. That held up our purchase, couldn't agree and / or decide. No matter your decision, you'll probably end up supporting it with fervor once you have your new MINI! Let's Motor! '03MCS CR/B combos 1,2,3 |

Offline | I say go for the leather and climate control - the sat nav just don't look right in place of the speedo. I have the half leather and climate control - I find the climate control much easier to use than the standard heater controls - what could be easier than turning a dial to the required temperature? Something to take into account if you're thinking of getting the sat nav - how much travelling to strange places do you do? If you only tend to do most of your driving on roads you know then why do you need the sat nav? Obviously if you do do alot of driving to places you're not familiar with it could be beneficial. IMHO a MINI with leather and climate control will have a better resale value than a MINI with cloth seats, standard heater and sat nav - out of the two I know which one I'd rather have. |

Offline | one big reason why i wouldn't chose sat nav - it looks horrible. furthermore, it moves the speedo to the column, you lose one of the coolest things. some people say they can't have the speedo in the centre but it takes 20 minutes to get used to. sat nav is also expensive, particularly compared to an ipaq or palm with gps gizmo - and then you get a pda for free. contrary to you i'm convinced you will not get a penny of this investment back when you sell the car. if leather and auto ac are not that important to you, you can/should do without them, get someting cool instead, like aero. sat nav is un-cool. losing your way and driving around in your MINI on backroads and twisties for hours finding your way back, that's cool. those are my $.02 cooper s '05 x brg/white/chrome, cordoba/anthracite/chrome, flik wasp 17x7 x delivered july 26th 2005 cooper '02 replaced x brg/white, R83 white, chrome, cordoba x built june 21st, arrived july 15th on the traviata, delivered july 26th 2002 |

| MINI2 Regular | I vote no. My vote is a for the leather seats and the auto climate control. While I didn't opt for the leather in my new MCS ( I was trying to hold down the cost) I did opt for the auto climate control and so far it has been one of my favorite features of the car. Just "Set It And Forget It". Remember as others have stated above, you loose one of the coolest features of the car with the sat nav and that is the center mounted speedo. Just my two cents worth but I hope it helps. Offline | Well what you did not want to hear was Its your choice.but it is your choice. My first car had full leather and the centre speedo and now I have half leather and sat/nav,It took a bit of getting used to becauce I kept looking at the centre for the speedo,But I now think its great and as for the full leather, its easy to wipe clean other than that I dont miss it having had them replaced after the leather going saggy and when I sold the car they had gone the same way again. My personal opinion:::: The leather is a waste of money and I was very disappointed. and as for sat/nav being for people was poor sense of direction Thats crap,I have a very good sense of direction but if you are going to ten addresses a day as I do and have never heard of most of them then it does not matter how good your sense of direction is,my sat/nav has paid for itself already with the time it has saved me. |
