Offline | Managed to kerb my front passenger-side wheel today. Luckily I have the car booked in next Monday to have the tyres changed and the KDS machine to look at the alignmnent. Got on the phone to the dealer and they are going to repair the wheel at the same time. It will cost around £55. Does this seem a reasonable price? My other worry now is if I have done any other damage to the suspension. The car is having its alignment checked because it pulls slightly left and the steering wheel is not staight when driving straight. I thought this may be a reason the tires have worn out very quickly, but how do I prove to the dealer that the alignment or tracking was out in the first place and that it wasn't done today when I hit the kerb? Any advise please guys. Here's a picture of the wheel: (Doesn't look as bad in the picture) |

Offline | Ouch - wheel damage - painful isn't it?The price you've been quoted is roughly the same as I was quoted for one of mine repairing. My wheels are white and I've got two damaged - caused by a rock on the Peak District run I don't know what sort of a job the repair man would be able to do. ![]() For the time being I've used some touch up paint and they don't look too bad but still I know the damage is there. ![]() Looking at the pic of your wheel it also looks like you're missing the plastic cap from the locking wheel nut. All four of mine were missing - it wasn't until I went on the Heartbeat Run earlier this year that I noticed everybody with 17" wheels had plastic caps on their locking wheelnuts - except me Still a trip to the dealer and that was sorted no problem. ![]() Best of luck with your dealer, getting the handling sorted and also the wheel repair. I'd be interested in what sort of job they make of it. ![]() |

Offline | You compained about the 'pull' before you kerbed the alloy. Anyhow, by looking at the damage it's very unlikely a scrape like that could knock the alignment out. They'll know that. Best of luck Cooper_S ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the support guys. You lot always know how to make someone feel better. As for how they fix the wheel - I haven't got a clue! I will post pictures of the repair here next Tuesday or Wednesday. |

| I am in the exact same situation. In a construction zone, we had to move 1 lane to the left, and changed pavement levels...well, it definently scraped up the wheel, and I am also wondering about suspension damage. How should I go about getting the wheel repaired? can the dealer do it? -Andrew |

| Dead Man's Curve? Feh. | I have 2 S-lites that have curb damage. One is quite similar to Cooper_S's picture, which happened while parking. The other happened while taking a corner too closely while driving and is more extensive. This morning I showed the wheels to a local shop that repairs alloy wheels and was told they needed to be sent to an outside company, but would be indistinguishable from new when returned. Repair time is 7 to 10 days and price was $120 per wheel. Try contacting your MINI dealer (or the BMW side) or a local body shop for names of places that repair wheels. |

| Dead Man's Curve? Feh. | I have the Dunlop Sport 9000s and yes I believe they have rim protectors, but they didn;t seem to have done their job in 2 instances. The first was slowly pulling into a parking sapce and the second was not so slowly taking a corner a bit to close and smacking against the curb. But, may they did their job and the damage might have been greater if the protectors wern't there. |
