| MINI2 Newbie | I have had a Cooper with a white roof and no sunroof and now have a cooper S with a black roof and a sunroof. Both cars had/have climate control. The reason I got the sunroof was mainly for the extra light you get in the car. I personally think that having a white roof and a sunroof is not a good option as half of your "white roof" ends up black. It appears that in general the combination of white roof and sunroof does not affect residual values so you should have what you want. I haven't had any noise issues etc. with the sunroof but I have to admit it doesn't get opened very often. I'm not sure my comments have helped you too much but I'm sure you'll enjoy your Mini whatever your decision is. |

Offline | Hmmm. My best friend has a Cooper CVT, with a sunroof. Due to back problem he has to use extra cusions on his seats. With the seat fully lowered, but then the seat height boosted with the cusion, his head just about touches his sunroof. I have a Cooper without a sunroof. If he sits in mine, again with seat lowered and his cushion in place, he has clearance, I'd guess about 1-1.5 inches. So either my sports seats lower more than his (they look identical), or there's less headroom with a sunroof (unless it's open, of course :P ) |

Offline | As the Mini's on Italian Job have White roof with sunroof, then this combo might actually increase the value of your car when you come to resale, as everyone will want an 'Italian Job loke-a-like', obviously, you should think about getting it in red, white or blue as well.... |

Offline | Nothing new to add really other than to say I'm getting the s/r on a Chili Red/White roof and the manual a/c. I think the black looks great on the white roof (you never hear people complaining a chequered roof is covering half the white up ha ha )For me the s/r is about making the cabin much lighter, airier, and so less claustrophobic, and also for the wind-in-the-hair back lane experience. You benefit from it all the time. The a/c is just for keeping cool on those few days or weeks a year when you need it. Get both. Offline | Good point Adam, it was certainly a factor when I was choosing. Now i've got the car, I really wish I could have afforded both like Martin L. Still i'm quite happy with the air conditioning. Just my 2p worth... G ![]() |

Offline | Not only do I have both but I also have a white roof as well! . Definitely get both, each is useful at different times. Don't forget that the a/c extracts moisture from the air too. And to those who think its almost like driving a convertible when you have the windows down and roof open - ITS NOT - not in a million years! ![]() 260909 ![]() |

Offline | I agree, but it is a good compromise to retain the rigidity of a hardtop and get some wind blowing. It'd be nice if you could retract the rear window... It'll be interesting to see how the convertible rides. MINImeat B/W MCS |

Offline | Well the top of the sunroof glass is flush with the top the metal roof when it's closed. And the glass is quite thin relative to the thickness of the standard roof. In the area where the "hole" was made to fit the sunroof you gain an inch or so of headroom. The rest of the roof is exactly the same as a car without a sunroof. In most cars you lose headroom to get a sunroof, with the MINI--since it opens up over the top of the car--you actually gain a little headroom. Could be your seats are setup differently from your friend's, but the headroom difference can't be put down to the sunroof ![]() ![]() |
