Offline | Ha, judging by the first car he owned. I am guessing he is an old white haired fart who wouldn't know a cool car if his life depended on it. I have no doubt that if you asked that guy what a good looking car is HIS top 5 would be. 1. any year of buick roadmaster 2. crown victoria 3. older the better chevy impalla. not the new ones, they no doubt are to SMALL 4. any Cadillac, again not the new ones because "theyr'e to darn european.....where's my bi-focals? 5. any 50's autos with 6000 lbs of steel, 45 gal fuel tanks and egnough hard metal surfaces in the interior to scramble your brains in an accident. i hope that indicates how valuable is opinion is ....lol |

Offline | Anyway, I also think the MINI is butt-ugly, literally, it's ungainly at best or outright ugly from the rear view. I'm befuddled when I get the "it's sooo cute" comment, always from a woman. I don't think the MINI is cute either. I bought the car for it's handling (1st) and for its performance (2nd) and don't give a rat's a*re what it looks like. {quote}a hearse for Lilliputians{/quote} I like that image. ![]() {quote}a stationwagon for the 7dwarf's band instruments{/quote} That's a good one. ![]() {quote}a partially stepped-on tin can.{/quote} I don't see that one. ![]() Don't understand why fellow MINI owners get soo defensive about the car they own, when it is critized by others. I don't want to own a popular car, and I hope the MINI is never as popular as the PT Cruiser is in the US. I like it when journalists make negative comments, it keeps away the riff-raff buyers, and that's a good thing. ....watch it... I'm an old white haired fart also...ohh wait, I'm missing one of those 4 characteristics...whew..![]() |

Offline | Come on, guys, it's called satire, although not a particularly good example of it. The author's hyperbole is a bit excessive (really, a herd of elephants?) and the random jabs are trite, but that article is certainly nothing that merits cursing the man or insulting his wife. Obviously, the author had to dig deep to come up with a topic for his column. In the end, he accomplished his goal. He provoked a reaction from his readers and is now the center of a passionate discussion in a remote region of cyberspace. I think wmd has the right idea. Anyone who would fall for such an opinion about a MINI is much too impressionable to own one. Ironically, MINI owners would hate to see everyone own a MINI, but they still want everyone to love it. So the MINI got some free exposure, a small-time columnist gets some attention, and a few MINI owners look like a hostile bunch indeed. Tsk tsk. |

Offline | Although I think he is crazy for his opinion on the Mini Cooper (knowing I'm completely biased and think it is a gorgeous car) I do agree about the ugly PT Cruiser and i'm not much of a VW bug fan either..lol His redneck story about bubba and the hounds or whatever..was lame ;-) MINI is a way of life! |

Offline | Well, he did say he was looking at a Mini Cooper! (Actually, it never ceases to amaze me how even proper motoring mags. can't get it right. It's just being slipshod. As anyone working for bmw would tell you). "I get by with a little help from my friends" |
