just got a speeding ticket but the police guy put my mini down as a BMW...not a loop hole is it!! ITS A MINI!!!! NOT A BEEMER!!

i mean its not a BMW, really...maybe he had trouble recognising what car it was...he did have to ask me if i knew what speed i was just doing! LOL

Technically most MINIs are sold at BMW dealerships, share the same BMW Service Department and are serviced by BMW mechanics.

And they're built at BMW GROUP OXFORD........

OK, flick through Autotrader and see how many MINIs are advertised as BMW MINIs.

VW may build the Skoda using common components, but they are sold and serviced at separate dealerships.

Is your MINI dealer, Derek Woodman MINI?

They're one of the rare UK dealers to have a separate MINI operations. But I've heard that their "MINI Adventure Consultants" still whore around in Beemers!

On the other hand, most BMWs are sold at MINI dealerships.

Well since I keep talking about my newly ordered Mini at work, my co-workers asked me what they should write down on my first ticket..they too did not know what the make of the car was!lol I explained that the make is Mini and the model is Cooper..and that if they give me a ticket I'll return the favor happily!LOL Doubtful your ticket would get dismissed because he put BMW, but maybe if you have a nice judge...did he get your license plate right?

Sue the police on your cars behalf. Imagine calling it an inferior make. A case of slander happening.... ;-)

Just spoke to a friend who has friends... As long as reg no. was right then the fact they got the name wrong shouldn't make much of a difference. Certainly not if you attempt to protest it. Would be nice though!

He did suggest you always ask to see the certificate of callibration if caught with a mobile speed trap however.

No it's one up north, the garage is a whole new building just for minis, and the sales etc.. drive minis.

Accross the road though is a BMW garage, I think servicing and parts is done there??

With a good solicitor you will certainly get off for that speeding ticket, its a MINI not a BMW.
A friend of mine who drives a MG ZR recently had a court case dismissed because the police had it recorded as him driving a Rover.
