| Bad Dog, Moderator | Just Kidding...It'll be fine. There's even one school of thought regarding break in that you should run the heck out of it while breaking it in. Offline | Scargo, I know this has been a very traumatic episode for you. I suggest several evenings of rest after you drive the hell out of your MINI during the day, with liberal quantities of fine aged single malt scotch and some fine cigars.... ....Or you could get a couple of kegs and several large pizzas and drown all your guilt and angst (Hey, who says remorse and regret can't be fun, too!!! ![]() "you better run run run...godwhacker's on the case." --Steely Dan |

Offline | My MINI was in the showroom when I showed up to take it home. While I was driving it out of the doors I reved it up to 4.5-5K RPMs. Then when I drove it down the sideroad by the dealership I redlined 1st gear, slammed 2nd, redlined 2nd, then shut it down for a stop sign. Turned left onto the main road and topped out 3rd gear all the way to redline. I now have 14K miles and it still runs like a champ. Atleast 8K miles have been of HARD driving. Like redline the first 4 gears, then cruise at 110mph for a lenght of time. I think you will be fine ![]() |

Offline | That sounds like the sort of thing you do when you discover that the Hire Car that you have just been given only has delivery mileage on it - thrash the **** out of it, to get the engine loosened up ![]() Maybe I'll show a little more restraint with my car, but not to the other extreme though ![]() David 2003 Mini Cooper S - DS/B |
