Offline | "Children's" travel mugs I am waiting delivery on my MINI and I have a question about travel mugs: I know that the cup holders are a tight squeeze compared to typical American holders. I was at a Starbucks and they had "child size" travel mugs that are a little taller than a soda can, but not larger around. I have no problem with a smaller amount of caffeine, but does anyone know for certain that it'll fit well? They had them in two designs: American flag and watermelon (what either has to do with coffee or Starbucks is beyond me, but they're not unattractive). |

Offline | A standard soda can will fit in the MINI cup holder. I tried it yesterday. I am not sure about the extra height. I would guess the Starbucks would work. (I am going to see if my local Starbucks is selling them and maybe they will let me dash one out to the car to check for a fit before I buy one.) Thanks for the heads up. Gryphon |

Offline | I specifically checked out the Starbucks childrens travel mugs of which you speak and they do indeed fit. I think I like the short MINI travel mug better 'cause it has a handle. 2nd "Go not to the elves for counsel for they will say both no and yes." JRR Tolkien |

Offline | Any parent who would get their children all caffeinated up with Starbucks prior to a long drive is not thinking straight! Why not give them a Snickers bar too? ![]() Chip H. ex-MINI Cooper S owner and all around good-guy |

Offline | The Starbucks children's mug fits perfectly. Also, according to a very helpful staffer at Starbucks it holds 8 ounces and that can be ordered as a "short" as in "I would like a 'decaf short latte' please." (A "tall" is 12 ounces, fyi.) The mug is produced with the idea of using it for a child's hot chocolate from Starbucks. For $6.99 I think it is a nice MINI add-on. Gryphon |

Offline | The mug is two layers of plastic--very similar to a Tervis tumbler. No metal. Directions say do not microwave and top of dishwasher only. The black top screws on and has a sipping hole with a lid that flips over to seal it. Haven't tried the metal MINI mugs so I cannot compare. Holds 8 oz. Gryphon |

Offline | Thanks for checking for me! I've gotten two (the Starbucks at our grocery store gives you a free drink whenever you buy a travel mug, which the stand-alone Starbucks don't do!), which will have to do until the car actually arrives. The nice barista also told me that they hold "short" size drinks. You know, I'd rather be drinking 8 oz of coffee than 16....fewer pit stops! |

Offline | Hi Ananas: Yup, I agree. Just finding out about the "short" was a plus. I like Starbucks lots but NEVER finish even the tall so knowing there is a short is all to the good. Gryphon |
