Crikey how did you manage that?

Were you doing a steady 56mph on the motorway?

The best I've managed (according to my OBC) is 29mpg but most of my daily mileage is round town/sitting in traffic.

Been working in Bath a lot, so thats a steady motorway run of just under an hour, followed by some town traffic at the end. Still been having the odd bit of fun... there's a really cool stretch of road on the way into Bath, good curves on hills

Kept it between 70-80 all the way. I think another factor is that its done nearly 15000 miles and is nice and loose now.

Possibly the ECU is adapting to the fact that a lot of its miles have been motorway... do you think it starts to lean out the mixture even more than usual if you keep a steady speed???

Dunno about that, but a steady 56mph is used typically when gauging a car's MPG (don't ask me why - engine at it's most fuel efficient? )

Mine seems to get 32 MPG on the highway with the AC running and 38 with it off.

I wouldn't say it's simply engine is most fuel-efficient at that speed. More inclined to say that the overall package is built to perform best at that speed. Overall aerodynamics of vehicle comes into play. Wind resistance will burn much more fuel than just lead-footing your car. That's why you need so much oomph for high speeds, gotta overcome wind resistance.

Averaged 38 mpg on a motorway 500-mile round trip to Norfolk. Cruising up towards 90 where possible, only 800 miles old, no aircon, running normal unleaded. I get 32.5 'round the doors' i.e. commuting/town driving.

Not as bad as I'd been led to expect...

We need to specify which galls are being used (Imp or US) in order to compare the figures. 1 us gall = 0.83 Imp gall

UPDATE...

I've just been to Weymouth for the weekend and got over 38mpg for the trip! 2.5 hours each way, only 45mins of which was motorway. Rest was all nice curvy A roads with some Vauxhall Corsa roasting included!
