| Itzamazn: You don't have run-flats anymore? What will you do if you have a flat - call AAA and get your car towed, or maybe use a can of fix-a-flat? Just curious. Scott in ATL. 2002 Mini Cooper S Chili Red/White. 1998 Mercedes ML320. |

| rlvette, You are so right, I can hear them now. "Ten pounds of Gold, that's too heavy!" On a serious note, when we have problems with our cars, and don't get proper assistance, we become very unhappy especially if you happen to love that car. We are all humans and unhappy humans do tend to complain, especially when we don't see results that are expected. I'm one of the lucky ones that haven't had a lot of problems(knock on wood), but if I wasn't I'd be the biggest (6'2",285lbs.ha,ha,) complainer out there because I love that car and couldn't stand to be without it. When I'm in my MCS I'm in Heaven, and I hope those with unresolved problems recieve a speedy fix so they can feel the joy I experience every time"I'm Driving In My Car".Good luck to us all, Itzamazn |

7k, some minor niggles, but happy. I just recently passed 7000 miles and am quite happy with my car; the gas milage is a little less than I expected (24.5mpg in city), I've had the South Florida Heat peel the shifter plastic top off, the back trunk sometimes doesn't lock, and the passenger side panel squeaks at times. I had the ECU or whatever its called (the engine program) upgraded because of the occasional stall at around 1000 miles. I've personally had Civics mostly before this, along with opportunities to drive BMW 740 and 318s, the original hummer, and Mercedes 240's. Every car and make has some level of problems. Honda's usually don't. But here are some of the things that happened to my honda civic before 30k miles came: the dash had a backlight that would wink out occasionally; whacking the console would reseat it back on. One of the injectors went bad, causing the car to loose one of its cylinders. The left front headlight would also wink off and on; contacts had to be cleaned and reseated. Plastic trinkets like the beverage holders- completely broken off. All cars have some sort of issue or another. Hopefully you will end up with one that beats the badluck posts that you read in some of the forums. So, even with the issues noted above (which I'm sure the dealer will resolve at the 10k service) I've been pleased as peaches with my car. I must be a grinning idiot every time I talk about my Mini, but hey, you gotta be passionate about something, right? Oh, I'd like to add that BRG/W is the best color combo. ![]() I |

| rlvette: If you re-read my initial post you'll see that no one GAVE me any 10-pound block of gold, and no one GAVE me a car. I PAID over $20k for a car that's been in the shop 5 times in the 5 weeks I've had it. You'd complain too. Scott in ATL. 2002 Mini Cooper S Chili Red/White. 1998 Mercedes ML320. |

| This is a draft of what i plan to send to bmw: Dear Sirs, I appologise in advance for the tone of this letter, however whats enclosed must be said. Since picking my 2003 MINI ONE up from your North Oxford Garage Dealership on 15/05/03 I have found it to be annoyingly perfect. Since purchasing the vehicle in February i have found the dealer to be equally impressive which as you can imagine, is quite a concern. Unfortunately, after meticulously inspecting my car i have found that i cant find a single thing to moan about which is incredibly frustrating. I am writing to you to ask for some form of compensation for this as other owners have experienced problems which has made me feel quite left out. One of the great aspects of owning an unreliable vehicle are the journeys to and from the dealership. Its a tremendous waste of time and a good opportunity to look at your vehicles on show. Also, I could have gained a better relationship with the sales people and therefore got a discount on my next car. All of the above i have missed out on and I beg you to either give me some form of compensation or i will be forced to reject the car in favour of a Fiat, Alfa Romeo or even (gulp) a KIA. I look forward to hearing from you, Regards Chris H |

| Chris: Hilarious letter. But I have an idea... Even though you're in the UK I'd be willing to trade cars with you, just so you can enjoy my experience. Please let me know what you think. Oh by the way, my car is now wrecked, courtesy of my Mini dealer. | shkeller55, They will probably make a movie about your experience. Austin Powers will be in the staring role of course. The reason your car took this unexplainable journey is because Dr, Evil's Tractor Beam, "Preparation H". You did see "Goldmember" didn't you? All kidding aside, I admire your spirit under such circumstances. I can't wait to see your post after you've seen the video. They said, "you can see the skid marks where the parking brake was trying to hold it back". If so, you got a "Demon Mini"! Good Luck, Itzamazn |

| " I admire your spirit under such circumstances". I'm angry of course but after all, it's just a car. It's not like one of my kids is hurt. When I was younger I would have gone crazy over something like this. With age comes reason though. The thing is, the car drove wonderfully once they got rid of the stumble in 1st gear, it was just that the SES light kept coming on. Despite all the trouble I loved driving it. But now I'll have re-evaluate it's driving characteristics after they fix it. I did see Goldmember but don't remember the Prep H part. I think it's on Showtime this week so maybe I'll be able to watch it again. Scott in ATL. 2002 Mini Cooper S Chili Red/White. 1998 Mercedes ML320. |

| I've got 21 k on my Feb 2002, I had a few minor niggles at the beginning all sorted very quickly no fuss, but no probs since the first service 11,000 miles ago. Saying that the passenger seat backrest adjust had just siezed! Its the original c**p mechanism tho. The newer ones are better by all accounts. ![]() |

| Bits fell off, things didn't work, Obnoxious dealer, felt like a berk, Stamped and screamed, balls in a vice, Parts replaced, tried to be nice. First service came.... and went, And small amounts of money spent, Niggles? maybe, just a few, But not enough for me to sue. Miles done and Chilterns run, Shining yellow under the sun, Kids are waving, girls are smiling, Nothing could be more beguiling. 18 months and many miles, And just about a million smiles. So am i disappointed? No, just chill, relax, go with the flow. |
