Offline | sport seats or not? Hello-- I'm new here, anticipating ordering my new mini in the next couple of days. I'm trying to decide what packages/accessories to get and wondered if anyone could offer advice regarding the extra value of sports seats. The sales person has recommended them to me-- I'm also wondering about leather vs. leatherette. In my previous car, leather seats were well worth the extra cost, yet the combination of sport seats and leather is $2,500 USD, about 10% of the cost of the whole car. I'd be interested in any positive or negative experiences with the purchase of the sports seats and whether people who have purchased leatherette find that they wear well (stain and dirt resistant?). Thanks from one who is looking forward to taking the plunge. Bob |

Offline | Re: sport seats or not? Sport seats are a $270 standalone option or included in the $1250 Sport Package along with DSC, 16" wheels, rear spoiler and fog lights. Profile Leather is the only leather option available with sport seats until September builds when Cordoba Beige will become an option. Leatherette looks like leather and costs $0 ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Re: Re: sport seats or not? This might save me some money. My guess is that a couple of new beige front sports seats is going to cost rather less than any depreciation, should I have chosen to sell my existing car in favour of a new one - this time with the sports seats. The only benefit that the standard seats offer should not be overlooked though - they're great for developing your back muscles. |

Offline | sport seats are in fact standard on the MCS at least here in the USA. Additionally you can get other seating material. I am getting Lapis Blue Gravity Leather on my sport seats in my MCS to be built in September. In the Cooper with sport seats, the only leather you can get is the Panther Black Profile leather. As for leathette, my wife has it in her Audi A4 and she thinks it is hotter than leather and makes her perspire. I don't ride in it enough to notice I guess. I have leather in my A4 and I can't tell the difference. 2004 MCS DS/B |

Offline | The standard seats are OK but not very comfy for long distance travel. If you are getting a Cooper, I recommend getting the Sport Seats a la carte ($270) and then add the standard Panther Black Leatherette ($0) and voila, you have the nicest and cheapest seating combo available in the MINI. No need to spend $2,500 between the Sport package and the over priced plasti-leather. '02 MINI Cooper CVT On Order: 2004 MCS (Est production date: 9/5/03) |

Offline | I've got leatherette sport seats. Seven months of daily driving -- still love them. The leatherette is "grippy" and soft and holds up (keeps its shape) better than leather. IMHO. '03 MCS, black / black, 16" Wheels |

Offline | the 'sports' seats are ok but nothing special - they're not sports seats like I had on some previous cars like my M3. No real side support and no thigh bolster adjustment - although I believe they are still better than the standard seats which must be really bad! ![]() 260909 ![]() |

Offline | i didn't opt for the sport seats for two reasons, 1. they don't (didn't) come in beige leather, 2. i didn't feel they offered that much of an advantage. i'm the tall/skinny build as well and found i slid around in them about as much as in the regulars. still, had they been available in beige leather it's likely i'd opted for them... cooper s '05 x brg/white/chrome, cordoba/anthracite/chrome, flik wasp 17x7 x delivered july 26th 2005 cooper '02 replaced x brg/white, R83 white, chrome, cordoba x built june 21st, arrived july 15th on the traviata, delivered july 26th 2002 |

Offline | The sport seats are some of the best seats I have ever had in a car. It is amazing how well they fit with my unusually tall torso. They also keep a good hold on you as you are going through the twisties. The regular seats are ok, but once you drive in sports seats, it is hard to go back! ![]() |
