I dont know. Somebody started a thread on MCO about the increase, he said he heard $24 somewhere and then people gave him replies that had said their dealers said $400.

?

I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

Oh the anticipation!

$400 is what I expect. But for some reason, I like the sound of $24 instead. : ) Hope springs eternal.

I just asked Gibson, my MINI Motoring Adviser (sounds so much better than Salesperson, doesn't it? ) at Cincinnati MINI about the $24 increase and this was her reply...

>>that's just the increase on the base price of the car. Individual options and packages went up also. i'll call you (or e-mail you) with the new pricing as soon as we get it<<

DOH! I hope, when all the math clears, that the increase is not much worse than last year (around $125?).

I dont know if this is out there already, but here is official word on rear fogs.

"Suitable for all existing MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S models, the kits can be bought for the rear only or front and rear as a package. The kits have an MSRP of $75 for the rear kit, and $199 for the front and rear kit combined, EXCLUSIVE of the installation charges.

Installation includes an additional toggle switch for the front console, ancillary wiring, and reprogramming of the vehicle's software."

There we go!!

Just received this email from my dealer. The numbers are in reference to my MCS order (she didnt send a whole option list, just prices on my order) but I figured I would leave the info as it was sent.

>>OK, here you go!

Base price - $19999
cold weather - same
foglights - same
premium pkg $1300
bonnet stripes $100

new and improved total - $21839 (increase of $94)<<

Only $94 more for my car, that is good news to me.

What about individual items?

Do we know if individual items that aren't part of a package (like the HK upgrade and auto wipers/mirror) went up? Hopefully not. This is great news that the price increase is so small.

Official MINI USA Press Release...

MINI Announces 2004 Model Year Pricing and Changes: 08/01/2003

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey - August 1, 2003 ... MINI USA is pleased to announce pricing and specification changes for the 2004 model year. Even with strong and consistent demand for both MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S, both models will receive only a modest price increase of $24. This will make the MINI Cooper MSRP $16,999 and the MINI Cooper S MSRP $19,999, inclusive of $550 Destination and Handling.

Several specification changes for 2004 are below:
  • Due to popular demand, Pepper White will be available for the MINI Cooper S
  • A new style 3-spoke leather sport steering wheel is now available for both models
  • A rear power socket will return as a standard item
  • Sport seats in Cordoba Beige Leather are also available due to customer demand
  • The electronic display under the tachometer now includes a digital speed readout
  • The On board computer now includes an instantaneous fuel consumption function

Several options and package prices have also been adjusted for 2004. Sport and Premium packages are up only $50 from 2003 as is the optional leather interior and CVT transmission.

steering wheel options

Did anyone notice the different steering wheel prices in that price list?

It doesn't sounds like the 3 spoke will be standard. They make it sound like the old steering wheel will also be sticking around. Also, anyone know what style the multifunction will be? It doesn't indicate 'S' or 3-spoke, but it seems to imply that it will be the same as it currently is. Hmmmmm. Very interesting.....

Am I right to understand that to get my rear fog lights, it will still have to be a dealer install since my car is being built in Sept?

Since you have to pay for the front ones, it only makes sense you'd have to pay for the rears also.

So the new steering wheel is available as of 2004 builds in the US, not December?

On the steering wheel, I don't recall where I read it, but one of the web sites talked about the sport package with the steering wheel remaining as is because of the steering wheel mounted controls. So the new 3 spoke is not available if you order the sport package is what I got out of that. Might be true, who really nows?

Early is on time; On time is late.
