I see a number of new accessories on the miniusa.com site. We are ready to put in or order for a Cooper, but I'd like to know if the mp3 player is on the near horizon. If I could have an mp3 player facory installed, that would save me from having to replace the stock head unit myself.

I asked my dealer 'bout the mp3 feature, and she seemed to suggest that it was just confusion regarding the aux connector kit (which would allow you to hook up your own mp3 player)..... but we'll see....

P.S. Paul... nice to new icon...

For the US market, the model year begins with the previous September build cars.

Finally a remote key the way it should have been done from the get go!!! A separate button for the doors and a separate button for the boot hatch!!!!

Now I can have both, remote hatch release and comfort opening in the same keyfob!

The 3 spoke steering wheel starts with the December 2003 builds so no, you wont get it. I have an October delivery myself and prefer the larger horn of the new wheel but I prefer like the look of the current one in all other respects.

I am also skipping the new 3-spoke steering wheel as I am getting a '04 MCS in October (Sept build).

The new steering wheel is nice but not worth pushing back the order for another 4 months.

As long as I can get my rear fog lights (Full 6 toggle switch panel) and my front MCS chrome front grille, I'll be a happy camper.

I also think the original 2 spoke wheel has a charm missing on the more conventional 3 spoke version. Besides on a 3 spoke steering wheel you can't rest your hands at the bottom of the wheel comfortably on long highway drives.

new steering wheel

The new steering wheel will be worth it if we get rid of the two horn buttons and can just push the middle of the wheel to blow the horn in an emergency, I can never find those two little buttons, but I've pounded the heck outa that MINI logo in the middle of the wheel

True, that is a pretty good argument against the current 2 spoke wheel, but still, I don't really want to push my order that far just to get the 3 spoke wheel and the more logically placed horn button in the center hub.

How easily does the center ring scratch?

I too have a Sept. 2004 MCS on order. My main concern with the current 2-spoke steering wheel is the scratching that I have heard so much about. Is the silver ring really that easy to scratch? Do you think the new design will be any better (I notice that it still has a silver ring)? I don't really want to wait an extra 3-4 months for my car, but I don't want a scratched steering wheel either.

Yup, my thoughts exactly regds the horn buttons.
Would prefer a 3 spoke without the silly protrusion in the centre of the wheel - Can't it be made a bit better looking with a flush centre section?

I prefer the Mercedes "Infra-red" keys they use now - Don't cut into your pocket.
I'm guessing they're just too expensive.

I'd suggest that you don't hold your order, wait until the 3-spoke comes out, take a look at your dealer, then if you like it, negotiate a discount???
