Offline | A moderator closed the thread last night (made it so that no new posts could be added), because the discussion was becoming heated and inappropriate. I suspect the group of moderators have had a discussion now, and have hidden the thread away from the public view. A moderator should be able to confirm this for you... |

Offline | Nope, can't find it. Unusual, thread usually states if moved or closed. I was reading the thread around 18.00 hours yesterday, and saw no heated or inappropiate discussions. All I viewed, was positive posts to be gainfully and usefully employed on future runs for Mini2. If Pauline her-self has requested the threads removal, then I owe an appology for starting this thread. I believe a lot of good shall come out of Pauline's thread. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing, and we must all learn from what occured on the Sussex Run. I, myself was most worried on the short time I spent on the run. Remember, you cannot please people all of the time, but talking and prior planning is good. May I respectfully request Paul or a Moderator to explain the threads apparent disappearance. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | There was some mud-slinging after 6pm, Neil; the last post made to it before it was moved from public view was just before 9pm. Soggycornflakes took the best points raised and started a new thread with these in yesterday. |

Offline | I can understand that moderators might need to moderate posts but ripping out the thread seems a bit OTT. I was surprised to find this: You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation Now you have lost all the sage advice from us current/ex-motorcylsist suggesting that you put the fast people at the back. We know from experince that this works. But thats the nice thing about advice isnt it. You dont need to take it. ![]() ![]() WhatCar? Offline | Thats not a good enough answer dinger. I have read and contributed to soggy's guidelines, for which he has done an admirable job and must be congratuated. I wish to know what went on last night. Hope you have not just removed the whole thread because it shows Mini2 in a bad light. I would be most obliged if i can have sight of the thread that I contributed to over the last couple of days. Please explain fully your actions without another curt dismissal. At present I am extremely unhappy with the whole of the Sussex Run issue. ![]() ![]() |

| Nice TTs......... | The thread has been closed, as all the useful points had been made - all that remained was for the thread to degenerate into outright battle. I had to work very hard last night Moderating that thread for a number or reasons, none of which I can discuss in public for various reasons. It has served its purpose, and a number of very useful points were made, which Im certain all involved in organising runs have absorbed and taken on board. In all my time as a Moderator , I have never seen such a heated and opinionated thread - the expression of opinions is a good thing, that is what a forum is all about. However, the negativity isn't a good vibe to leave floating around out here. Using the thread as a medium for personal attacks on individual members isn't in the spirit of MINI2 either. The thread was on its way to degenerating into a slanging match - that could not be allowed to happen. I know some of you will disagree with my stance on this, but so be it, I have to make decisions, based on a particular set of occurrances, at a particular point in time, and I have done so. As I said, I think its time to move on, and learn from all of the good points generated from the thread - Soggys guidelines are a good example of a positive result, and hopefully , there will be others. ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |

| Nice TTs......... | I don't think that advice is lost, it has been noted by all event organisers, I'm sure...... BTW, without going into the detail of Moderating guidelines on here, there are a number of circumstances when we deem it necessary and / or prudent to remove a thread - the circumstances fitted the model in this instance. ![]() Global Moderator |

| Awwww %%%% it! | I'm not a moderator but want to defend the actions taken by Aiden. There is a simple rule on MINI2 that personal insults are not accepted, once this occurs then a thread will be removed - it's happened before, and it will happen again. It may seem frustrating at the time but it is for the long term good of the friendly community we all enjoy here, personal feuds/slanging matches will just create factions and bad feeling. In this instance there was a lot of constructive valid points raised and I have attempted to consolidate these into the MINI Run etiqutte thread - that should now serve as a positive outcome from Pauline's orginal post. I think we should just all move on now and look forward to enjoying, hopefully, some problem free runs in the future ![]() |

Offline | I strongly believe that something good and positive will come out of the discussions that went on in here over the last few days ![]() With regard to moderations that go on in MINI2, it is a thankless job and someone has to do it. At the end of the day, no one is forcing any of us to be here - if we don't like what is going on in here, we are free to seek newer pastures ![]() DK :apple: |

Offline | AidenL Not at all happy with Mini2 actions. Prior warnings were given to parties on the Sussex Run regarding inappropriate posts. Why not just reject those from the thread, explaining to others why that members post has been deleted, we do not need them on board. What gives the Moderators the right to play God (excuse my choice in word) and delete the whole thread. We only have your word that inappropriate posts were only reason. There was a lot of positive stuff in the thread that members could refer to in the future. Pauline was right to raise the whole issue in the first place. If guilty persons wish to drive against the rules of the public highway under the banner of Mini2 and cannot hack the lack of responsibility for their actions, then they have no place in this Forum. I am afraid it shall come down in the end to me or them, and shall be giving very carefull consideration to all of my future involvement in Mini2. Shame really, as I quite enjoyed the JCC racing Minis. ![]() ![]() |

| Nice TTs......... | I'm sorry you aren't happy, but there are many, many unhappy people around at the moment. Many more would be even unhappier if that thread was allowed to continue for much longer. I'd like to point out that Moderating is an unpaid, and as can be seen in this thread by a number of comments, indeed thankless job. None of us have the time to sit online all day, and night, selectively deleting individual posts in individual threads. Its simply not realistic. Decisions have to be made in relation to the greater good, diminishing returns froma particular thread et al. Regarding your query on the right of Moderators? We do have the right, and its our decision. We do have quite a bit of experience on the matter. You say you have only my word on the reason for the deletion, by implication my word may be untrue? I am not happy at that inference. Pauline raised the issue, and it is out there in other areas of the forum for discussion now. There should be no case of us or them - with 10,000 members on MINI2, there is quite a wide ranging spectrum of opinion, and there should be room for everyone. However, that variance of opinions raises the need for rules, and Moderators, of which I am one, and I will apply the rules. ![]() Global Moderator |
