| MINI2 Regular | How hard is Dark Silver to keep clean? When I finally order, I will be ordering a DS/B Cooper S. I know black is very hard to keep clean and I was just wondering how Dark Silver compares to it. Does Dark Silver also tend to get dirty fast or does it keep it's shine a while longer? ![]() Keith 2004 DS/B MCS - Premium Package - Front Fog Lamps - Alloy Patina Dash - Alarm |

Offline | DS/DS does surprisingly well with dirt...even when it is kind of dirty, if you take about 10 steps back it looks pretty clean. I usually wash every 2 weeks...sometimes 3 weeks if I get too busy. Very bizarre how well that works, but makes me feel better since that was the main reason I gave up my original choice of B/W (not to mention DS just looks SO nice). ![]() |

Offline | Thank god for that my old classic in Kingfisher blue is it blue is it green kind of thing looked clean if you threw mud at it! But this new thing indie Blue looks like a pig, it attracts dirt like a dyson so my new DS/W sounds like just the ticket. |

| Expect Anything Else? | First, D/S is not even close to being a boring color. There aren't that many and when people see it they like it much better than the non-mettalic colors. It shines and is a very distictive color. Most people I come in contact with, non mini owners, say thats the color for them....how can 20-25 year old girls be wrong. I have a DS/DS and its very easy to keep clean. The only part that ever shows dirt is the back window and around the license plate. I have not waxed mine yet, but I can imagine a more brilliant color once done. Add the white lights, Aero kit and its on its way to be a show stopper. 2003 DS/DS MCS |

| MINI2 Regular | Great! I'm happy I picked a good color than. If it's one thing I hate, it's a dirty car. Thanks for all the info guys, except the one who called me 110 years old j/k I just fell in love with the dark silver as soon as I saw it. I think it's a very unique color.Keith 2004 DS/B MCS - Premium Package - Front Fog Lamps - Alloy Patina Dash - Alarm |

| MINI2 Master / Moderator | I got DS/W and I think it's good with dirty, I ususally wash my car every 2 to 3 weeks, it always look nice and shape, but I also got the white wheel, and it DIDN'T work with dirty at all!!!!! 2 minutes after I wash it, you will see the break dust right the way. So if you want a good color, pick the silver wheel ![]() |

Offline | My dark silver MCS spends most of it's waking hours on construction sites,it is a great color for not showing dirt.I think it's a safer color to stealth under police.I have too many tickets already,I can't afford to attract the attention of red, yellow, etc. |

| MINI2 Regular | Dark Silver I own a Dark Silver MCS with white roof. I have found the color quite easy to maintain. If I have one complaint it is about the disc brake dust. It seems that they become covered with brake dust almost immediately after I clean them. On short drive and they begin to look as if they need to be cleaned again. I have the silver alloy wheels. I can't imagine having the white spokes. Hope this helps you. 2003 MINI Cooper S, Dark Silver w/White Roof, Sport Package, Auto Climate Control, 17S-Lites, Rain Sensing Wiper, MFSW, Grey Space Cloth Interor. Offline | My DS/B went unwashed for two weeks, and it did look pretty good, except for the roof. I use a cleaner wax on the roof, about once a month, to remove the small scratches and swirls that accumulate from repeated washings, and I've recently started using a spray 'n' wipe "quick detailer"; a lot of the time, especially in the Summer, my car is dusty just from being outside, and the detailer restores the just-washed look without a lot of work. DS is definitely a low-profile color (especially when it's dirty, since that cuts the shine), so I opted for the daytime running lights to make it a little more visible in traffic. I'd also have to disagree that it's boring; two people who have asked if it's a custom paint job. In the shade, DS looks like gray, but in the sun it really sparkles. |

Offline | Obviously, I think DS is the nicest color and the best blend of awesome looks & practicality (as this thread also testifies to)...also, most people that have seen my car also comment on how well the color fits and on top of that, it's not too flamboyant or loud...it's awesome looking, yet subtle at the same time...definitely not "boring" though. It's the kind of paint job that instantly makes you nod your head and grin with the feeling of "yeah," but doesn't raise eyebrows.Freshly washed, DS/DS also looks unbelievably nice at night with a tint job...stealthy, sporty, and smooth with a nice reflection from the light. I only wish I could have gotten away with a darker tint job. haha. Lastly it goes unbelievably well with the black leatherette and the anthracite interior...a very smooth package. Did I mention that it looks really great at night? ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Boring? Don't confuse boring with CLASSY and TASTEFULL. I don't believe that you should ridicule the good taste of others. I have received many compliments on my Dark Silver and White MCS. Offline | The first time that I saw my DS/B under fluorescent lights with a light sprinkling of rain on its shapely body and the metallic flakes sparkling in the deep shine of a fresh waxing , (even I had to stop and stare). I knew that I had made the right choice of colour. Big Al |

| MINI2 Regular | I must agree! I must agree with you on that one. I washed and waxed mine recently. The next day we had a light rain shower and my MINI look beartiful with a bit of sprinkle on it. 2003 MINI Cooper S, Dark Silver w/White Roof, Sport Package, Auto Climate Control, 17S-Lites, Rain Sensing Wiper, MFSW, Grey Space Cloth Interor. |
