Blue Cooper What Steering Lock?

Hi!

I pick up my mini at the end of September and am well aware that I don't live in the best area with respect to car crime.

I was wondering if anyone knows what steering locks fit the mini? My mini will have the Cooper S perforated steering wheel.

So far I have seen locks by Stoploc, Halfords and Autolock.

I appreciate that the car has an immobiliser but the stats reckon your less likely to have your car broken into if you have a visual deterant like a steering lock.

Any ideas?

Wink

hi m8 , I tried a few locks and settled on the disklock (SMALL size) the stoplock pro didnt fit over the airbag at all..and I had an earlier version of the disklock which saved my previous car. the lock is a bit of a bind to fit,but if you are serious about security ,you cant cant beat it http://www.halfords.com/shop/item.asp?id=743849 but they are available in loads of places at good prices

only a MINI could handle like the ***koopatroopa**** !!!

My understanding is that since the key interacts electronically with the ignition (there's a more complicated test than just whether the key is the right shape or not), the MINI in it's base configuration is a very hard car to steal. I didn't even bother getting the security system on mine. A club, wheel lock, or obvious security set-up may deter casual fools who don't know about MINIs; but other than that I'm a bit skeptical of the benefit.

I've only ever heard about one being stolen, and that gentleman admitted that the perps took the key from inside his house in order to steal his car.
