The GOLD Color MINI ...

There are some auctions currently running on Ebay for 2 different Gold Minis.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=31861

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=31861

For some reason this color does not work for me ... it looks too .. I don't know ... weird. It does not have the "fun" feel of the other colors. I wonder who is the customer for this color? What demand did they have in order for them to introduce it? Does it look different in person?

What are your thoughts?

The best thing about gold is it hides dirt well. So if you can't wash your car often, it still looks cleaner than other colors. Of course if you have a black roof you lose some of that advantage.

But to me gold goes a little more with luxury cars, not necessarily sporty cars. It doesn't look quite as "fast" as other colors to me. It does look good on a Mini, but like you, Aurel, it wasn't for me.

(Hmm... Maybe you could buy a gold Mini, modify it to be really fast, then have a "stealth" car.)

If you like the Gold, Tom Bush in Jacksonville FL has a bunch. Doesn't really do it for me but if that's your thing they might be able to help you out.

This color is a total FLOP. Was dead on the water even before it was introduced. What was MINI thinking????

Getting rid of of 2 nice colors (VR and SG) for this tacky Solid Gold color was a very POOR choice. Bring back VR!!!

Taking out velvet red had nothing to do with adding solid gold ... solid gold was a direct switch out for silk green. I love silk green (obviously since I own one) but I am glad it was discontinued (the straw that helped decide my color choice) because now I have a MINI thats uncommon. (going to MINI meets it seems some colors all just TOO popular)

Saw Gold in Philly last weekend. Quite nice. Not a "fast" color, but neither is my Pure Silver. I think the Dark Silver looks a lot better. Agree that Velvet Red is awesome, and Silk Green was nice too. Would be nice to have more choices.

Apologies to any gold owners...but, to me, the gold is just so PT Loser, uh, I mean, Cruiser. I just can't make myself like it.

Got the gold and like it because it is not that common a colour. Also think it suits the MINI well with chrome and window tints.
Suppose it is each to their own though and at the end of the day just as long as you are happy with the colour that you pick for your car!

Now that I've seen the Gold properly, I HATE the colour! And the worst part was that it replaced Silk Green which was my favourite

A message to MINI/BMW: We need a classy shade of green or blue for those owners who would like something a little bit different. And why are there still two blacks even though at least one (or both) of them were apparently less popular than Silk Green? Plus Silk Green seems to be popular in the used market; it took barely one week to sell such a car at my local (UK) dealer...

BRING BACK SILK GREEN!

(or something just as nice!)

The new A4 Convertable is a gold colour that seems to my eye quite similar....again though its the luxury vs sporty angle. IMHO the gold is rank...but then rover sold gold classic minis (piccadilly/mayfair?) maybe thats why they introduced it?!

I have seen one on the road....I came up behind it coming off the highway and was at first very confused about what color it was (it was a gold/black). I have to say that it definitely looks better in person than in pics, and although not really my style, it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

And the woman driving it was exceedingly nice.

Got Belly-Shirts?
